Major Duties
Under general supervision, the Electrician performs a variety of journeyman level skilled duties related to electrical work. The incumbent performs journeyman electrical work on various buildings throughout the campus.
- Operates equipment and vehicles such as boom truck personnel lifts, pick-up truck, carts, emergency generators, etc.
- Operates power tools, pipe benders and related equipment.
- Bends, fits, joins conduit, pulls wiring circuits, installs and repairs fixtures, motors and related equipment.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
- Progressively responsible training and experience which demonstrates achievement of journey-level skills equivalent to that acquired through completion of a standard electrician's apprenticeship program.
- Possession of a valid California Driver's License is required.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Thorough knowledge of electrical theory and the methods, materials, tools and equipment used in the electrical trade for the installation, maintenance and repair of electrical apparatuses, equipment and systems
- Thorough knowledge of applicable state and federal codes and regulations pertaining to the electrical trade, including the National Electric Code and Electrical Safety Orders of the Division of Industrial Safety of the State of California
- Ability and specialized skills to: assemble, install, maintain and repair electrical apparatuses; operate all applicable tools and equipment necessary to perform skilled electrical work
- Read, interpret and work from blueprints, plans, drawings and specifications; make rough sketches; estimate the cost, time and materials of electrical work.
Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule

- Classification / grade: 6533 / Electrician / 1
- The anticipated HIRING RANGE: $5998 - $7027 per month, dependent upon qualifications and experience. The salary range for this classification is: $5998 - $8737per month.
- HOURS: Full Time; 40 hours per week; Monday through Friday; 7am – 3:30pm.
- REG: This is a Regular position with a one-year probationary period.
