Instructional Support Technician II

| Working independently under the general direction of the College of Engineering, Computer Science, and Construction Management, the Instructional Support Technician II provides comprehensive technical, operational, and safety support for the college’s manufacturing laboratories, machine shops, and technical facilities in Plumas Hall.
Working closely with the Department of Mechanical and Mechatronic Engineering and Advanced Manufacturing, the Technician supports the day-to-day operation of shop facilities, machinery, specialty fabrication equipment, student projects, and classes. The position provides regular updates on technical, functional, and safety operations and ensures facilities and equipment are maintained and operated safely.
A primary responsibility is developing and conducting comprehensive safety and operational training for students, faculty, and staff on manufacturing equipment, tools, and processes. The Technician also recommends, sources, and purchases equipment, tools, and materials; maintains records; coordinates equipment and facility maintenance; and trains and supervises student assistants. The position works closely with Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) to ensure compliance with safety regulations, including hazardous materials management.
