ADMINISTRATOR II
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
Serves as the Administrator in charge for the area of Student Life & Support Programs in the absence of the Associate Vice President for Student Life & Support Programs/Dean of Students (AVP SLSP/DOS). Represents the AVPSLSP/DOS and the area of Student Life & Support Programs at meetings.
Provides vision, guidance, and support for the overall planning, development, implementation, and assessment for aspects of CSUCI’s Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, & Access (IDEA) programs that are managed within the Student Life & Support Programs (SLSP) area within the Division of Student Affairs including, but not limited to Disability Accommodations & Support Services (DASS), Inclusive Student Services (ISS) and the subsequent cultural centers housed within the department (LatinX Cultural Center, Black Cultural Center, & Inclusive Student Services Center), and CSUCI’s Civic Engagement initiatives. Responsible for program and budget development. Responsible for managing data collection and conducting analyses for each program to assess student learning outcomes, persistence, and retention of students. Serves as the main point of contact for CSUCI’s Civic Engagement Initiatives as it pertains to compliance and engagement with the Student Civic and Voter Empowerment Act (California Education Code §66850-66852; California Elections Code §2148.5).
Provides guidance and support for the overall planning, development, implementation, and assessment of the primary functions in the Dean of Students office that are high-risk and carry a high degree of sensitivity and decision-making responsibility; often including consultation with legal counsel as well as counterparts at another campus in the CSU. Oversees the Student Conduct (SC) program and functions, with related responsibility for maintaining records, managing communication within and from the office, adjudicating student conduct cases, and performing outreach to students. Responsible for program and budget development as well as assessment and evaluation of the CARE, Students Conduct, and Alcohol & Other Drug programs. Specifically, responsible for managing data collection and conducting analyses for each program to assess student learning outcomes, persistence, and retention of students. Serves as the main point of contact for Alcohol &Other Drug compliance initiatives, including federal and state laws and regulations as they pertain to alcohol and other drug requirements, policies/procedures and best practices, and educational programming needs in accordance with the Drug Free Schools & Communities Act. Serves as a point of contact for student conduct procedures and best practices, federal and state laws and regulations as they pertain to student conduct actions, including FERPA, Title 5 of the California Code of Regulations, and California State University (CSU) Executive Orders (EO) 1095/1096/1097/1098/1107/1108 and more. Supervises the Associate Director of Conduct & CARE and supports their work in addressing reports of alleged student academic and behavioral misconduct, on and off campus, filed by members of the campus community. Ensures students’ due process rights are protected, conducts proceedings outlined in CSU EO 1098, including sending investigation notices, meeting with all parties involved, recommending informal resolutions that include administrative sanctions and educational interventions if appropriate, and representing the University in formal hearings. In conjunction with the Associate Director of Conduct & Care, prepares Clery statistics, in collaboration with the Clery Director, as well as other campus and CSU reports. Works collaboratively with the Title IX & Inclusion office on sanctioning, early resolution agreements, interim remedies, and other programs. Develops educational programming and outreach for students and the campus community. In conjunction with the Associate Director of Conduct & Care, co-chairs the University Campus Assessment, Response and Evaluation (CARE) Team. Provides direct supervision and support to the CARE case manager housed within the Dean of Students office. Reviews and assigns cases to case management team and/or CARE Team members and addresses high level cases referred to the CARE Team. Coordinates CARE Team activities including trainings, retreats, and special meetings. Provides direction to the Team through the development of associated procedures, policies, and materials to support the functionality of the Team. Conducts training and presentations for campus community members regarding students of concern. Represents the Dean of Students office and University as appropriate to students, staff, campus organizations and offices, faculty, parents, and off campus community members by providing various trainings on policies and processes, student behavioral issues or concerns, and other related topics. Performs regular assessment of program learning objectives and prepares statistical data reports related to activities in the programs. Develops and implements a marketing/communication plan (including, but not limited to print materials and website development), as well as educational program development for CARE, Student Conduct, and Alcohol & Other Drug programs.
Reacts and responds in a timely and appropriate manner to matters of a highly confidential nature. Communicates information, procedures, policies, points of interest, etc., in written form with a high level of accuracy. Demonstrates outstanding verbal communication skills and is responsible for following up with other departments/personnel to ensure accuracy of information. Ensures timely notification to the Associate Vice President for Student Life & Support Programs and Dean of Students and the Vice President for Student Affairs regarding all high-level cases. Works to develop and maintain positive effective relationships with individuals and groups representing many and varied interests and agendas. Serves on selected department and University committees. Actively participates in CSU Systemwide work groups for the Student Conduct Administrators, CARE, and Alcohol & Other Drugs Program. May assist the Dean of Students with high level projects and/or student issues or other projects on behalf of the AVP office.
Take an active role in helping to embed the values of diversity, equity, and inclusion in all aspects of University work, in every division, and participate at least once annually in professional and/or leadership development opportunities that will contribute to campus efforts to advance racial and social justice in and through education at CSUCI and beyond.
Performs additional related duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION:
Master’s degree in Higher Education, Counseling and Personnel, Student Affairs or other related field required. At least five years of progressive higher education and student affairs leadership experience required. Advanced knowledge in student conduct adjudication, CARE case management, planning, and/or implementation preferred. Student success and retention knowledge and ability to facilitate inclusion, diversity, equity, and access (IDEA) programming and co-curricular student experiences. Knowledge of group and individual student development theories, assessment, procedures, and techniques with two years of experience as it pertains to co-curricular student success and retention program development preferred; ability to develop effective collaborative relationships with faculty and administration. Knowledge and ability to use high level analytical, problem solving, and organizational skills with the ability to work creatively and independently; ability to plan, organize, manage, direct, and train others in the formation, maintenance, and support of student and ancillary programs and services. Familiarity with and commitment to the CI and the Division of Student Affairs Mission and Purpose. Knowledge of and ability to use supervisory principles, practices, and techniques to accomplish results through delegation and motivation. Knowledge of effective work policies, practices, and procedures. Ability to effectively establish and maintain cooperative working relationships within a diverse, multi-cultural environment of students, staff, faculty, and academic programs across the University. Ability to design support programs to meet organizational objectives. Working knowledge of the organizational structure of the University and resources available to the University. Must maintain the confidentiality of student information at all times and abide by FERPA and HIPAA guidelines. Proficiency in the use of computers, including appropriate software. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Thorough knowledge of English grammar, spelling and punctuation required. Serves as a Campus Security Authority in compliance with the Clery Act.
A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with the CSU. Hiring Range: $9,584 - $10,833 per month
