About the Position:
Diversity Initiatives and Resource Centers (DIRC) supports students by building communities that foster a sense of belonging, creating opportunities to engage in self-discovery and critical inquiry, and serving as a hub for resources in inclusive and affirming spaces. We create engagement opportunities that empower, educate, and activate students in the areas of social justice, equity, and anti-racism. We seek an exceptional individual to join our team as the Associate Director, Diversity Initiatives and Resource Centers (Administrator I). The Diversity Initiatives and Resource Centers (DIRC) at Cal State Fullerton creates inclusive spaces that foster a sense of belonging for students of diverse identities and champion student success across campus. Diversity Initiatives and Resource Centers (DIRC) is housed in the Division of Human Resources, Diversity and Inclusion and an entity within the portfolio of the Assistant Vice President of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Chief Diversity Officer.
Under the general supervision of the Director, Diversity Initiatives and Resource Centers (DIRC), the Associate Director is an integral part of the DIRC leadership team and assists in providing leadership and administration for the department, including staff supervision, operations management and assisting with departmental outreach and communications management. As part of the DIRC leadership team, the Associate Director works with the Director and Assistant Director on overall management of DIRC, including strategic planning, operations and process development, assessment, and other related tasks. The Associate Director will assist with internal and external relations efforts for DIRC by serving as the point of contact and departmental liaison to strategic communications. The Associate Director will have decision making authority and is required to use independent judgement and sound political acumen in both routine and complex situations. The Associate Director oversees three of the cultural and identity resource centers housed in DIRC; the Native American and Indigenous Resource Center (NAIRC), the Southwest Asian and North African Resource Center (SWANA), and the Women’s Resource Center (WRC). This individual will also oversee a member of the department’s operation team, the Administrative Support Assistant (ASA).
The position oversees the development and implementation of new initiatives in direct alignment with the Fullerton Forward CSUF Strategic Plan 2024-2029, as well as the Division of Human Resources, Diversity and Inclusion and Diversity Initiatives and Resource Center missions and goals. The position will work collaboratively with a wide variety of departments and partners across the university community to assist DIRC in developing effective programs and services that promote culturally relevant academic excellence, personal and professional development to support the connection of identity and success at Cal State Fullerton.
The individual in this role will serve in a consultative role for campus partners on issues of diversity and inclusion and build collaborative relationships with internal partners and external stakeholders. The Associate Director stands in for the Director as needed in representing the Department of Diversity Initiatives and Resource Centers (DIRC) within Diversity, Inclusion Equity Programs (DIEP) and the Division of Human Resources, Diversity and Inclusion (HRDI), as well as across campus. Other duties as assigned.

Essential Qualifications
|
Master's Degree from an accredited college or university in an area related to Student Affairs, Student Development, and Educational Leadership. Three years of professional student services work experience including experience supervising professional staff. Demonstrated ability to manage and develop staff. Ability to analyze and respond to complex and sensitive situations using sound judgement and political acumen. Experience with outreach and communications in a higher education setting. Experience with website design and maintenance, social media management and engagement strategies. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative relationships with a diverse student population of faculty, staff, and the public, through a student-centered lens. Demonstrated skills in decision making, facilitation, mediation, collaboration, project management and fiscal planning. Knowledge, experience, and competency in the areas of culturally relevant programming, diversity education, program development and implementation. Experience working with highly visible areas within division or organization. General administrative knowledge, including organizational, operational personnel, and fiscal management. General knowledge of and experience with program and departmental assessment. Demonstrated commitment to issues of diversity, inclusion, equity, and social justice.
A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to complete the background check satisfactorily may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.
