    • Position Summary
    • One Temporary hourly-intermittent student assistant position available in the Signal Newspaper English Department. 



    • Start Date
    • Position available on or after February 3, 2025 and ending on or before May 30, 2025. Possibility of reappointment based on budget, department needs, and job performance.

    • Job Description/Duties
    • Duties include but are not limited to:
      • Attend one-hour training session per week with lead editor and/or faculty representative
      • Produce original content (enterprise, breaking news coverage, and multimedia features)
      • Schedule, plan, edit and post stories from reporters and other editors
      • Contribute to story budget production and updated
      • Perform other relevant duties as assigned
      • Attend weekly staff meetings

      Other duties as assigned.

    • Qualifications













    • Preferred Qualifications:
      • Demonstrates knowledge of AP style.
      • Demonstrates a passion for news.
      • Demonstrates a desire to practice or teach journalism after graduation.
      • It is preferred, but not required, that the incumbent is fluent in written and spoken word Spanish.
      • Demonstrates writing experience.
      • Demonstrates general knowledge of Stan State.
      • Demonstrates excellent grammar, spelling and punctuation.
      • Demonstrates a desire to work with a team.

      Required Qualifications:
      • Undergraduate students must be registered/enrolled in a minimum of six (6) Fall/Spring units.
      • Post-baccalaureate students in a graduate program must be registered in a minimum of four (4) Fall/Spring units. 

    • Salary Range


    • $16.50 - $17.50 per hour.  Salary will depend on the qualifications of the successful finalist(s).
