Job Summary

This position is in charge of leading  the ongoing development and maintenance of the CMS Academic Advising (AA) Module and E-Advising tools functionality. Direct responsibility for administrative setup, development, testing, and systems analysis within the area. Responsible for ensuring system integrity and resolving issues related to the AA Module and E-Advising tools, including but not limited to: EAB, Advisor Request System (ARS), Degree Audit, and Degree Planner systems.

The position requires a high degree of technical and functional knowledge, including the ability to translate business requirements into system specifications and resolve technical issues. This is a hands-on role requiring a combination of project management, team facilitation, and systems analysis skills in support of Advising and E-Advising Systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Performs the duties of Module Lead for the PeopleSoft Student Administration Academic Advising (AA) Module. Responsible for integrity, accuracy, and maintenance of Advisor Center, Degree Audit, Degree Planner, and Advisor Request System (ARS) systems, among other advising-related functionality. Ensure that Advising tools are customer-focused, integrated, efficient, documented, and in compliance with best practices and legal requirements.
  • Project Management & Advisor Support: Produce tangible deliverables in the form of project plans, issue lists, status reports, white-paper analysis, recommendations, and prototypes. Ensure that deliverables are accurate and timely. Anticipate potential impacts to the system as a result of system upgrades, releases, fixes, and business process changes. Review all training, communications, and change management materials to optimize efficiency and user experience.
  • Supervision: Directs and evaluates the performance of Assistant Module Lead

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

Thorough knowledge of on-line student information system, imaging systems, and degree audit and planner systems. The ability to analyze user needs and translate into detailed specifications. The ability to design, develop, implement, and maintain complex technical rules in support of business processes. Demonstrate the ability to analyze data requirements and research data availability and access methods. Demonstrate the ability to utilize reporting tools (Crystal, Query, etc) to develop end user reports.  Demonstrate the ability to interpret and apply academic and administrative policies and procedures to the degree audit. Demonstrate the ability to carry out assignments without detailed instructions. Demonstrated ability to exercise good judgment in the execution of business processes and staff management. Have thorough knowledge of academic policies/procedures relating to curriculum, transfer credit rules and degree audit building.

Education and Experience

  • Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Educational Technology, Communications, or related technical field and two years of related work experience required.

Physical Summary

Sedentary work - Involves mainly sitting. Walking and standing are minimal. Lifting is limited to lightweight objects. (10 pounds or less).

Compensation

Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department’s fiscal resources.

Hiring Range: The hiring range for this position is $6,125 - $7,000 month commensurate with candidate's education, experience, skills, and training.

CSU Classification Salary Range: The CSU Classification Salary Range for this position is $4,912 - $12,124 per month.

Time Base

1.0 time-base, 40 hours per week.

Duration of Appointment

This is a temporary position for one year with no permanent status granted. Temporary assignments may expire prior to the ending date.
