Job/Department Summary:

Under general work direction of the HFA Production Manager, incumbent independently performs more advanced assignments related to various production support specialties, such as scenery construction, lighting, special effects, and music/audio production, assisting the production manager to maintain a safe, respectful, and high-production value environment for the benefit of the College of Humanities and Fine Arts and its programs. Incumbent will provide technical and functional leadership and training for students; assist production manager, technical director, and scene shop supervisor with organization, planning, maintenance and facilitation of day-to-day activities; help students apply classroom knowledge in the scene shop; paint scenery, assist with production construction and rigging, and participate in production and organizational meetings. Incumbent is responsible for supervising practicum students in the areas of lighting design and properties. Incumbent is responsible for hiring, training and evaluation of both stage Electrics and Props Crew for each semester, and will act as Lead Lighting Designer and Prop Manager for the College of Humanities and Fine Arts, with area specific focus on the School of the Arts. Additionally incumbent will participate in mandatory safety trainings per Cal/OSHA, CSU, and EHS requirements.

Required Education and Experience:

At this level, the background and experience needed would normally be achieved through professional training or applicable college coursework and no less than three years of practical experience.

Preferences:

Preference may be given to applicants with the following as they may be considered specialized skills: 

  • Bilingual
  • Earned a MA or MFA degree
  • Experience maintaining a budget in a work environment
  • Supervisory experience
  • Experience with CAD programs

Time Base: Full-time

Pay Plan: 12/12

Work Schedule: Mon-Fri 8:00am-5:00pm, Summer: Mon-Thurs 7:00am-5:30pm 

CSU Classification Salary Range:  $47,040 - $85,116 per year.

Additional Information:

Throughout employment in this position incumbent must maintain a valid California Driver's License as well as continued completion and compliance of the CSU Defensive Driver's Training course.

Some assignments require nights and weekends in order to successfully perform the duties.
