Position Summary

Under the direct supervision of the Resource Analyst the Administrative Support Coordinator is primarily responsible for providing general office, clerical, and administrative support for students, faculty, and/or staff. Assignments and projects often involve interaction and coordinating with other work groups to gather routine information and/or solve problems.

The incumbent is responsible for a full range of work activities including the processing of mail, maintaining files and records, scheduling and arranging appointments, providing budget support, processing documents and records, gathering data, preparing standard reports, and interacting with and solving problems for work unit customers (including students) and staff.

The incumbent works independently with general instructions to support the administrative functions of Student Organizations & Leadership and may provide coordination and/or lead work direction responsibilities.

Assignments involve the regular use of judgment and discretion and require the management of multiple work priorities.  The incumbent must interpret and apply policies and procedures and at times must address problems with practical, thorough and creative solutions.  Ingenuity may be necessary to adapt guidelines and procedures to meet new needs.

FLSA: Non-Exempt (Eligible for overtime)

Anticipated Hiring Range: $3,680 per month (Anticipated hiring at the start of the classification salary range)

CSU Classification Salary Range: $3,680 per month - $5,783 per month

Work Hours: 8am - 5pm, Monday through Friday. Hours may vary depending on department need.

Department Information 

We know that not all learning on a university campus takes place in the classroom. Student Organizations & Leadership (SO&L) is committed to encouraging and helping students become involved in campus life through a variety of leadership programs and more than 300 clubs and organizations.

Minimum Qualifications 

Entry to this classification requires a fully functional knowledge of and skill in standard office procedures and practices, as well as an ability to understand and operate in a variety of organizational structures. Additionally, incumbents are expected to have a thorough knowledge of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation and be able to clearly communicate orally and in writing. Some positions may require a knowledge of business mathematics beyond basic arithmetic. The ability to use and quickly learn new office support technology systems and software packages is also a prerequisite. These entry qualifications would normally be obtained through a high school program, technical/vocational program, or their equivalents combined with several years of related office work experience.

Required Qualifications 

  1. Experience providing clerical and administrative support functions.

  2. Ability to apply independently a wide variety of policies and procedures where specific guidelines may not exist.

  3. Thorough knowledge of office methods, procedures, and practices.

  4. Fluency in using standard office software packages.

  5. Thorough knowledge of English grammar, punctuation, and spelling.

  6. Ability to perform standard arithmetic functions of a transactional nature, including tracking data.

  7. Work often involves front line contacts with a variety of campus and community individuals requiring active problem solving and effective interpersonal skills.

  8. Demonstrated competence in effectively presenting standard information in writing.

  1. Knowledge of University system software (CMS)
  2. Knowledge of student engagement platform (CampusGroups)
  3. Ability to learn, interpret independently, and apply a variety of complex policies and procedures. Able to identify deviations from applicable policies.
  4. Ability to apply independent judgment, discretion, and initiative to address problems and develop practical, thorough and, at times, creative solutions.
  5. Demonstrated competence in understanding, interpreting, and communicating procedures, policies, information, ideas, and instructions.
