Position Description

CLOUD SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR sought by California State University, Fresno in Fresno, CA.

 

JOB DUTIES: Responsible for providing advanced level technical support, implementation and administration of central servers and applications/services used by the campus community.  Server platforms are hosted both on premise and in the cloud which include Linux, VMware, and Windows Server.  Primarily responsible for varying levels for the analysis, modification, maintenance, and installation of operating systems, utilities, and related software and systems, including physical databases, to meet campus needs.  Responsibilities include ensuring the availability, integrity, security and reliability of assigned systems.  Principal duties include: 1) Responsible for providing operations support for cloud services through monitoring, incident response, and incident resolution for production applications and infrastructure deployed in the cloud environment.  2) Monitor the virtual infrastructure and provide support when issues occur; monitor the cloud infrastructure to ensure the availability and performance SLAs are met; and conduct performance tuning when needed.  3) Respond to incidents and escalate them to the appropriate teams as required.  4) Perform root cause analysis on incidents.  5) Follow incident, change, release, and problem management processes.  6) Review and modify documentation.  7) Provide backup and recovery support for cloud resources, including executing disaster recovery procedures to support disaster recovery testing.  8) Responsible for monitoring and reporting on compliance programs.  9) Use standard AWS infrastructure features such as Amazon Virtual Private Cloud (VPC), Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), Elastic Load Balancing, and Auto Scaling line.  10) Use AWS CloudFormation and other automation technologies to produce stacks of AWS resources that can be deployed in an automated, repeatable fashion.  11) Architect, design, and build applications using cloud platform services (Amazon, EC2, AWS Elastic Beanstalk, and OpsWorks).  12) Architect highly available systems that use load balancing, horizontal scaling, and high availability.  13) Be involved with configuration management platforms (Chef, Puppet, and Ansible) and scripting.

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS: Requires a Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Industrial Technology, Telecommunications or related technical field, plus two (2) years of systems administration or related experience in IT operations engineering, software engineering or database administration, including experience in building highly automated infrastructure in the cloud; seamless/automated build scripts used for cloud release management; Windows Server or Linux operating systems; developing automation solutions; and working in a highly automated environment.

 

*Specific skills: Also requires experience or knowledge in the following: 1) Experience with Chef, Puppet, Salt, or Ansible in production environments; 2) Knowledge of SSL certificates, CloudFormation and JSON; 3) Knowledge of networking VPNs, DNS, load balancing and firewalls; 4) Experience in scripting with PowerShell, Python, Bash, Ruby and Perl; 5)  Experience with Amazon EC2, AWS Cloud Formation and other AWS services; and 6) Knowledge of ITIL operations, CMMI models, AI tools and AI implementation

Salary for this position is: $98,808 per year.
