(Administrative Support Coordinator I)

Compensation and Benefits

Anticipated Hiring Salary: $3,865.00 per month 

Full CSU Classification Salary Range: $3,864.00 - $6,072.00 per month

  • This is a full-time (equivalent to 40 hours per week), probationary, non-exempt position. 

The CSU system provides a comprehensive benefit package that includes medical, dental and vision plans, membership in the California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS), sick and vacation time, and 15 paid holidays a year. Job Summary

Under the general supervision of the Department Chairs for Criminology and Geography and City & Regional Planning, the individual will provide administrative and clerical support for both departments. With similar responsibilities in both departments, the successful individual will provide support for both departments, with time split between both departments at approximately 50%. The successful individual will assist the chairs and faculty to ensure that all University and College requirements and deadlines are accurately and promptly met. This position requires considerable discretion and judgment in order to effectively coordinate and support all functions related to delivery of essential department programs, academic and options certificates and services. This individual will serve as the office coordinator.

Key Qualifications

  • Knowledge of office methods, procedures, and standard practices, including principles of customer service.
  • Thorough knowledge of English grammar, spelling and punctuation, and be able to clearly communicate orally and in writing.
  • Working knowledge of budget policies and procedures.
  • Thorough knowledge of office systems and ability to use a broader range of technology, systems, and packages.

Skill/Ability to:

  • Work with frequent interruptions while organizing and prioritizing multiple assignments.
  • Accept on-going changes (operational/personnel) adjust priorities and be responsive to short notice requests and deadlines.
  • Independently interpret and apply a wide variety of policies and procedures where specific guidelines my not exist.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with faculty, students, and staff from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socio-economic backgrounds and the ability to maintain a flexible collaborative manner.
  • Draft and compose correspondence and standard reports.
  • Perform standard business math, such as calculate ratios and percentages, track financial data, and make simple projections.
  • Ability to troubleshoot most office administration problems and respond to all inquiries and requests related to campus wide programs.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills with attention to detail and data accuracy.
  • Ability to create and maintain program records and provide data for review.
  • Maintain files and records.

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent, and three years of progressively responsible general office experience which includes full functional knowledge of and skill in standard administrative office procedures, practices and equipment; as well as the ability to understand and operate in a variety of organizational structures.
