About the Position:
The Office of Admissions is responsible for determining student eligibility for admission to the University, processes and evaluates applications and transcripts, determining residency status, and reviewing appeals for exception to University Policy. This is an exciting opportunity for technically savvy, helpful, resourceful individuals looking to take the next step to further their career in a dynamic field that is essential to the success of the University. We seek an exceptional individual to join our team as the Athletics Admissions Coordinator (Student Services Professional III). The ideal candidate in this role should have a positive attitude and an active, energetic mind characterized by highly ethical practices and a commitment to diversity, openness, flexibility, integrity, and kindness.
Under the general direction of the Associate Director of Admissions, Evaluations, the Athletics Admissions Coordinator provides strategic program leadership for prospective Athletes throughout the entire admissions cycle, inclusive of professional services and support related to CSUF Admissions and National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) eligibility. They analyze and evaluate academic records from high school and transfer institutions for the purpose of determining admissibility to the university and NCAA eligibility. Advises applicants of necessary academic requirement and possible timelines to completion. Uses high degree of professional judgement and assesses potential risk to university in decision making. The Coordinator leads multiple aspects of athletics eligibility compliance processes, developing and implementing improvements in those processes and coordinating work between several units that service and support student athletes. Explains university policies and procedures throughout the evaluation process to groups or individuals by telephone, email, or in-person. Provides student athlete admissions workshops for students and coaches as needed. Employee must maintain working knowledge of and compliance with relevant NCAA and conference rules and report any concerns or violations noted.
The Athletics Admissions Coordinator is proficient in CSU admission requirements for undergraduate, graduate, and international programs, as well as all NCAA initial eligibility requirements for first time freshmen, 2-4, transfers, 4-4 transfers, 4-2-4 transfers, and graduate transfers. The Athletics Admissions Coordinator provides admission evaluations for initial Progress Towards Degree (PTD) based on official and unofficial transcripts. The Coordinator communicates regularly with Athletics Academic Services staff and Athletics coaches to work through complex circumstances, then develops a plan to recommend solutions and advice regarding eligibility issues. Processes athletics admissions exceptions as needed and tracks data for reporting. Submits Matriculation Letters as appropriate. The Coordinator also assists with maintenance of reports and databases surrounding student athlete admissions eligibility, NCAA initial eligibility. Utilizes OnBase, PeopleSoft, WebAdmit, ARMs and other systems to process information. Other duties as assigned.

Essential Qualifications
|
Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent from an accredited four-year college or university in a related field including or supplemented by upper division or graduate course work in counseling techniques, interviewing, and conflict resolution plus three years of professional student services work in the field. A master’s degree from an accredited college or university in Counseling, Clinical Psychology, Social Work or a job-related field may be substituted for one year of professional experience. A Doctoral degree from an accredited college or university and the appropriate internship or clinical training in a relevant field may be substituted for three years of the required professional experience.
Ability to plan, develop, coordinate, supervise, and organize programs and activities. Ability to interact with a diverse student population, faculty, staff, and the public. Ability to analyze complex situations accurately and adopt effective courses of action. Ability to advise students individually and in groups on complex student-related matters. Ability to complete assignments without detailed instructions. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with a variety of individuals. Possession of excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as the ability to acquire knowledge of campus procedures, activities, and the overall organization.
A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to complete the background check satisfactorily may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.
