Position Summary

Reporting to the Executive Director of Housing Services, the Associate Director of Organization and Planning is responsible for the leadership and management of the core functions of marketing, logistics, and technology for University Housing Services (UHS). The incumbent is responsible for the supervision, leadership, and evaluation of (1) Information Technology Coordinator (ITC), (1) Assistant Director, Marketing, Leadership, and Project Mgt (SSPIV), and (3-8) student employees. The incumbent will work closely with University Communications, Student Affairs Communications, and Information Resources & Technology departments to create and implement marketing, communication, and technology processes for UHS.

The Associate Director of Organization and Planning will oversee the recruitment, selection, and other personnel actions for student and professional staff within UHS. The incumbent will develop and coordinate departmental training, meetings, strategic planning, and assessment.

The Associate Director of Organization and Planning is a member of the University Housing leadership team that is responsible to develop and execute the departmental budget, policy, strategic planning, and operational and administrative directions for UHS. The incumbent will represent the department on university committees.

FLSA: Exempt (not eligible for overtime compensation)

Anticipated Hiring Range: $6,917 per month to $7,500 per month; commensurate with candidate's education, experience, skills, and training.

CSU Classification Salary Range: $4,135 per month - $12,288 per month

Work Hours:  Monday - Friday 8 am - 5 pm. Hours will vary to serve in an on-call rotation, providing support during evenings, weekends, breaks, and holidays.

Required Qualifications 

  1. Degree in Higher Education, College Student Personnel, Business Administration, Public Administration, or other related fields.
  2. Three to five years of progressive responsibility in university housing management.
  3. Experience with strategic planning and managing multiple projects.
  4. Ability to understand problems from a broad interactive perspective and discern applicable principles to develop strategies to address needs.
  5. Experience interacting with students, parents, supporters, and visitors and handling inquiries and complaints timely.
  6. Ability to effectively manage work productivity and be detailed oriented.
  7. Excellent interpersonal and written communication and administrative skills.
  8. Ability to lead during change and develop collaborative and collegial working relationships.
  9. Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with public and private entities to plan processes and/or resolve issues.
  10. Experience with crisis management and the ability to handle sensitive student issues or concerns.
  11. Experience with computer systems such as Microsoft Office, information management databases, and housing management systems.
  12. Experience developing, implementing, and leading training for student employees and professional staff.
  13. Ability to frequently travel to attend off-site meetings, appointments, and events.
  14. Commitment to maintaining a welcoming and inclusive work environment with diverse colleagues and constituents including faculty, students, staff, and members of the community.

Preferred Qualifications 

  1. Experience working with technology solutions.
  2. Working knowledge of residential life, facilities, and front desk operations.
  3. Experience developing and implementing marketing strategies and campaigns.
  4. Experience managing staff in a collective bargaining work environment.
  5. Involvement in professional associations and/or organizations.
  6. Budget and assessment experience.
