Job Summary 

Under the direction of the Senior Manager for Payroll Services, processes and works as a member of the Payroll Services team responsible for operating PeopleSoft CMS-baseline, PIMS and CSULB-custom payroll processes for student employees.

Key Responsibilities

  • Audits SEPTF/LEAP forms.  Coordination of all student employment hiring and job record maintenance in the PeopleSoft system. Enters and maintains student jobs, job history, pay rates, corrections, and termination actions.  Follows up regarding any missing or erroneous paperwork. Processing payments for Student pay using the CSULB custom timekeeping system, Time & Labor functionality, and PIP interface. Includes Summer Bridge hiring/separations.
  • Coordination of student employment hiring and job record maintenance in the PIMS system. Enters and maintains student jobs, job history, pay rates, corrections, and termination actions.  Includes entry of adjustments for late time and separations. Updates addresses. Coordination of all student employment hiring and job record maintenance in the PIMS system.
  • Office and Customer Support Backup for front desk position.  Splits covering the Payroll Assistant's lunches/breaks/vacation/sick time with the other Student Payroll Coordinator.
  • Serves as backup and assists Student Coordinators.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

Seeking a candidate with strong analytical skills who can handle multiple tasks and priorities effectively. The ideal candidate will have excellent judgment and organizational skills, enabling them to set priorities and meet critical deadlines. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as is the ability to work effectively in a team environment. A customer service-oriented mindset with a proven track record of following through on commitments is desired. Proficiency in documentation is necessary to ensure materials are organized for audit compliance and result verification. Advanced skills in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook are essential, along with the ability to quickly learn and utilize payroll software required for the role. The candidate must understand and adhere to laws regarding the protection of confidential information and employee data security. Additionally, the ability to understand and follow directions, synthesize information, and seek assistance when necessary is crucial. Familiarity with or the ability to learn software programs such as PeopleSoft HR, Internet Explorer, Word, Outlook, Excel, and PIMS/Key Master.

Education and Experience

• Equivalent to one year of experience in preparing and processing payroll/personnel documents required.

• Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred.

• Experience with similar job duties preferred.

Physical Summary

  • Sedentary work - Involves mainly sitting. Walking and standing are minimal. Lifting is limited to lightweight objects. (10 pounds or less).

Compensation

Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department’s fiscal resources.

CSU Classification Salary Range: The CSU Classification Salary Range for this position is $3,680 - $5,961 per month.

Time Base

1.0 time-base, 40 hours per week.

Duration of Appointment

This is a temporary position for 1 year with no permanent status granted. Temporary assignments may expire prior to the ending date.
