Job Summary:

Student assistant for the Music Department Box Office. The expected start date is September 24, 2024. The student assistant shifts being offered are either Tuesdays and Thursdays OR Monday, Wednesday, and Friday’s. The shifts are from 12 Noon to 3:00 PM. *In addition to the normal office hours shifts, 8 additional 3-hour shifts are required and part of the job position.

The applicant is required to work 8 of the following evening shifts. Details are to be discussed with applicant. Shifts are 3 hours and may require standing for long periods of time.

October 9 (Wednesday) Symphonic Band: 6:00 PM
October 29 (Tuesday) Mariachi: 6:00 PM
November 7 (Thursday) CMS Showcase: 6:00 PM
November 14 (Thursday) Opera: 6:00 PM
November 25 (Monday) Small Ensembles: 6:00 PM
November 27 (Wednesday) Symphonic Band: 6:00 PM
December 4 & 5 (Wednesday & Thursday) Holiday Gala: 5:00 PM

Duties include:
- Support the Box Office Window (PA 145), selling tickets and answering questions.
- Cashiering for event tickets, customer service for students, faculty, and patrons.
- Assist the Box Office Manager and staff in performing general office operations to include but not limited to answering phones, reception, filing, copying, on campus deliveries, disseminating poster promotions, word processing, and troubleshooting ticketing program issues.
- Other duties as assigned.

- Must pass a CSUSB background check and the Cash Handling course must be completed by applicant.

Minimum Qualifications: 

- Ability to learn and perform assigned work; follow oral instructions; work cooperatively with faculty, staff, and other students; communicate effectively with all levels; and read and write English at a level appropriate to the position.

- Special Qualification: Admission or registration as a CSU student.

- As a Bridge Student Assistant, the student need not be registered as a student, but must have been enrolled as a CSU student the previous term and is registered for the following term.

Required Qualification

- Maintain a 2.0 G.P.A. or greater per semester and cumulative

- Students must be enrolled in at least halftime units at CSUSB (6 units undergraduate; 3 units graduate)

- International students must have full-time enrollment at CSUSB. (12 units undergraduate; 6 units graduate

- Eligible to work in the United States

- Payroll Requirement: Social Security Card

Preferred Qualifications 

- Maintain excellent attendance; be punctual and reliable.
- Be self-starter and team player that possess high ethical and confidentiality standards; must be reliable and dependable.
- Ability to communicate effectively, confidently, and clearly with a diverse group of people, face-to-face.
- Must be detail oriented and can multitask.
- Understand and perform proper face-to-face patron etiquette, be a people pleaser, and maintain a positive attitude. (Being multilingual is a plus.)
- Ability to work both in a team or individual environment with a positive and welcoming attitude.

Compensation and Benefits:

Student Employment Anticipated Hiring Range: $16.00 per hour.

The compensation offered will consider internal equity and experience among other factors.

Position Information:

Work status: Part-Time, Temporary, Seasonal

Academic year available hours: Monday through Friday (8:00 am – 5:00 pm).

Summer available hours: Monday through Thursday (7:00 am - 5:30 pm).

This is an 'On-Campus Only' position. Student Employees are not eligible to telecommute at any time.
