Classification Salary Range: $4,146 - $7,500 per month

The anticipated hiring range for this position is $4,146 - $4,300 per month.

The final salary is dependent upon qualifications and experience.

About the Department/Position:

Under the general supervision of the Associate Vice President, Enrollment Management, the Enrollment Management Communications Specialist is responsible for assisting with the planning, executing, and overseeing all Enrollment Management communication plans. The incumbent will provide high-quality service for prospective students through graduates, their families, counselors, and educators in the community. The position supports the efforts and goals of the cluster to promote CSUDH awareness in designated market territories and engage with campus partners to ensure that our students receive information on the vast university resources available. The position is expected to be innovative and creative in producing strategic communication pieces in various modalities while aligning with and adhering to university brand standards.

Overview of Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the planning, executing, and overseeing of all Enrollment Cluster communication plans for applicants through graduation to include students, their families, counselors, and educators in the community:
  • Assist with organizing all aspects of communications from conception to completion.
  • Conduct briefings and regular meetings with Directors, students, and volunteers as needed, debriefing with critical constituents.
  • Maintain communication plan calendar for long-range planning and preparations.
  • Design, develop, and publish custom event, registration, and social media landing pages.
  • Oversee the Social and various other communication modalities for Enrollment Management

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent training and administrative work experience involving study, analysis, and/or evaluation leading to developing or improving administrative policies, procedures, practices, or programs.
  • Experience: Three (3) years of experience involving knowledge of the fundamentals of public affairs and/or communications, and/or some exposure to marketing and marketing research.
  • Valid California Driver License

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Working knowledge and utilization of CalState Apply, FAFSA, and CADAA
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of CRM systems, specifically EMP/Liaison
  • Strong working knowledge and understanding of the enrollment landscape, including emerging trends and established professional contacts
  • Strong working knowledge and understanding of the enrollment pipeline, funnel, and communication/marketing needs of high school, community college, returning, and graduate students
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in managing a complex communication plan including all aspects of Enrollment Management, admission, financial aid & scholarships, recruitment and outreach, and the Registrar

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, Journalism, Advertising, Public Relations, or Media Studies.
  • Equivalent to two years of progressively responsible professional/administrative experience in communications.
  • Five years of experience in a university setting is desired.
  • Master's Degree preferred
  • Ability to remain knowledgeable about best practices for an Enrollment Management cluster and marketing for prospective and continuing students.
  • Working knowledge of and ability to apply standard theories, practices, principles and techniques related to communications in the public affairs, media, marketing, and/or sports information areas.
  • Demonstrated ability to keep abreast of campus events and subject matter expertise in relation to current events to identify and capitalize on media opportunities that will promote the university and increase positive media coverage.
  • Working knowledge of copyright and other applicable laws pertaining to publications and the media.
  • Thorough knowledge of web communication techniques, vehicles and formats. Ability to effectively use web technology to achieve communication goals.
  • Ability to analyze and select pertinent facts and integrate them into communication vehicles.
  • Strong story development and journalistic writing skills, as well as advanced editorial skills.
  • Knowledge of interview techniques and the ability to define and deliver media messages.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, including strong public speaking, listening and interpretive skills.
  • Ability to provide lead work direction.
