Major Duties

Under general supervision, the Warehouse Worker performs work involving the receipt, checking, storage, inventory, issue, and pickup/delivery of materials, equipment, and supplies; this position moves materials using powered or non-powered material handling equipment and delivery trucks; prepares and/or handles forms and documentation associated with receipt and delivery of goods. The incumbent performs duties that involve receiving, sorting and distribution/delivering campus mail, United States mail, and informational fliers; posting outgoing U. S. mail and processes priority, express overnight, international and bulk rate mail. 

  • Unloads and/or unpacks a wide variety of incoming material including office supplies, furniture, biological products, agricultural supplies, building materials, and industrial and mechanical equipment and employs special handling techniques when required for transport of fragile, toxic, flammable, radioactive, or short shelf life goods.
  • Receives/processes and distributes incoming mail and parcel items; picks up outgoing mail, campus mail and flier from various University departments.
  • Enters receipts into the University’s computerized materials system as well as working the department’s computerized manifesting system and keeping up to date hard copy files of all Purchase Order Receipts.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • One year of experience assisting in the receipt, storage, or issuance of materials from a centralized stockroom or warehouse, including some experience in the operation of fork lift trucks or similar power-operated materials handling equipment.
  • LICENSE: CANDIDATE MUST POSSESS A VALID CALIFORNIA DRIVER’S LICENSE.

 

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Working knowledge of methods, practices, and equipment used in receiving, storing, packing, and shipping materials and supplies.
  • General knowledge of methods of taking inventories and maintaining inventory records.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Oracle PeopleSoft, Metabim, Trackpad and Mail Metering software.
  •  Ability to match names and numbers quickly and accurately; keep simple records and make simple reports; read and write at a level appropriate to the position; make simple arithmetic computations; operate powered materials handling equipment; apply safe methods of moving heavy supplies and equipment; and perform manual labor.

 

Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule

  • The university offers an excellent benefits package, including but not limited to: medical, dental, vision, retirement & savings, tuition waiver and more.
  • Classification: Warehouse Worker / 1508 / 1
  • The anticipated HIRING RANGE: $3505 - $3708 per month, dependent upon qualifications and experience. The salary range for this classification is: $3505 - $5399 per month.
  • HOURS: Full Time; 40 hours per week; Monday through Friday, 8am-4:30pm
  • This is a Temporary position; end date to be determined.
  • The individual hired for this role will physically work on-campus in Northridge. This is not a telecommute position.
