Position Summary

The Center for California Studies Program Coordinator (Administrator Support Coordinator II) position coordinates, implements, and assists in the critical administrative functions of the Center for California Studies including the Capital Fellows Programs. The incumbent will provide support to all Center programs, projects and events and may be assigned a variety of other work in support of Center-related initiatives.

FLSA: Non-Exempt (Eligible for overtime compensation)

Anticipated Hiring Range: $4,543 per month (Step 3) - $5,762 per month (Step 15)

CSU Classification Salary Range: $4,367 per month (Step 1) - $6,362 per month (Step 20)

Salary step placement will be determined based on relevant qualifications and professional experience.

Minimum Qualifications 

Entry to this classification requires a fully functional knowledge of and skill in standard office procedures and practices, as well as an ability to understand and operate in a variety of organizational structures. Additionally, incumbents are expected to have a thorough knowledge of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation and be able to clearly communicate orally and in writing. Some positions may require a knowledge of business mathematics beyond basic arithmetic. The ability to use and quickly learn new office support technology systems and software packages is also a prerequisite.
 
These entry qualifications would normally be obtained through a high school program, technical/vocational program, or their equivalents combined with several years of related office work experience.

Required Qualifications 

  • Thorough knowledge of English grammar, punctuation and spelling.
  • Thorough knowledge of office systems and ability to use a broader range of technology, systems and packages, such as Microsoft Office systems (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Publisher).
  • Ability to independently handle multiple work unit priorities and projects from different managers.
  • Ability to apply independently a wide variety of policies and procedures where specific guidelines may not exist.
  • Working knowledge of budget policies and procedures.
  • Ability to perform business math, such as calculate ratios and percentages, track financial data, and make simple projections.
  • Ability to draft and compose correspondence and standard reports.
  • Ability to effectively handle a broad range of interpersonal contacts, including those at a higher level and those sensitive in nature.
  • Ability to coordinate a high volume of travel and scheduling needs for multiple parties.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to troubleshoot/ solve problems without supervision.
  • Ability to exercise appropriate judgement as needed to work and solve problems independently, especially as it relates to compliance with university travel requirements.
  • Commitment to maintaining a welcoming and inclusive work environment with diverse colleagues and constituents including faculty, students, staff, and members of the community.

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Experience working in an institution of higher education.
  • Familiarity with California state government, including procedures and protocols of California’s three branches of government.
