Job Summary
Under the direct supervision of the Chair, assists in a department office of approximately 11 tenured/tenure-track faculty, and 11 lecturers; serves as one of the resources for information regarding Department policy and practice for faculty, students, and staff; maintains Department files and records; provides continuity in policy and procedures; and processes all assignments, meets deadlines, and processes paperwork.
Key Responsibilities
- Receives visitors and telephone calls for the Department. Provides information as appropriate directs inquires. Maintains appearance of offices and posted materials.
- Types and reproduces instructional materials, correspondence, minutes, reports and forms. Tracks dispositions of correspondence, expenditures, and forms. Provides clerical support faculty in the Department.
- Serves as department mail clerk and maintain office and photocopier supplies.
- Serves as Department Technology Help Desk resource.
- Arranging Events and Activities.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with a variety of people including faculty, staff, students, and vendors. Ability to perform and concentrate in noisy environment that involves independent judgment, accuracy, and speed. Working knowledge of office methods, procedures, and practices relating to an academic environment. Working knowledge of Windows, Word, Word Press, Adobe Acrobat Pro, e-mail, spreadsheet, databases, Ad Astra, web pages, and CMS for PC. Ability to develop and deliver essential information through written and oral communication skills.
Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures. Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student and assist in achieving the university's commitment to a "vision of excellence."
Education and Experience
Equivalent to three years of administrative support experience required.
Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Physical Summary
- Sedentary work - Involves mainly sitting. Walking and standing are minimal. Lifting is limited to lightweight objects. (10 pounds or less).

Compensation
Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department’s fiscal resources.
CSU Classification Salary Range: The CSU Classification Salary Range for this position is $3,680 - $5,417 per month.

1.0 time-base, 40 hours per week.
Duration of Appointment
