    • Position Summary
    • Multiple temporary hourly-intermittent student assistant positions available in Basic Needs.

    • Start Date
    • Positions available on or after May 19, 2025 and ending on or before August 29, 2025. Possibility of reappointment based on budget, department needs, and job performance.

    • Job Description/Duties
    • Duties include but are not limited to:
      • Deliver high-quality customer service to students and community members. 
      • Engage students in discussions to raise awareness about CalFresh benefits. 
      • Facilitate CalFresh Healthy Living nutrition education sessions using approved evidence-based curriculum.
      • Utilize design software (e.g., Canva) to create promotional materials, educational content, and visual elements for the Basic Needs newsletter.
      • Utilize design software (e.g., Canva) to develop promotional materials and educational content.
      • Record, edit, and publish recipe videos featuring student-friendly meals from EatFresh.org.
      • Collaborate with Basic Needs staff to host Instagram Live sessions showcasing the use of CalFresh benefits.
      • Establish and maintain partnerships across campus to increase CalFresh program participation.
      • Maintain records of class attendance, Instagram content, and other program data using Word/Excel.
      • Attend monthly CalFresh Outreach (CFO) collaborative meetings to provide program updates.
      • Assist with training and mentoring volunteers.
      • Collect, organize, and maintain documentation for submission to the supervisor. 
      • Provide feedback on campus trends related to student health and wellness concerns. 
      • Support Basic Needs and Warrior Food Pantry initiatives by serving as a Basic Needs Ambassador, engaging in both in-person and virtual tabling events, and actively participating in programming such as National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week, Share the Love Week, and CalFresh prescreening events. 
      • Conduct CalFresh pre-screenings for Warrior Food Pantry participants, assist students with CalFresh applications and renewal processes, and respond to general inquiries about the program, ensuring compliance with confidentiality and program training requirements. 
      • Use independent judgment to refer students to appropriate campus resources, including Basic Needs team members 
      • Attend meetings with the Basic Needs team as required. 
      • Provide regular progress updates to supervisors.
      • Other duties as assigned.

       

    • Qualifications
    • Preferred Qualifications:
      • Excellent customer service and passion to help and support students.
      • Ability to work well in a team or individually.
      • Good judgement when handling sensitive and/or confidential materials.
      • Demonstrates ability to maintain confidentiality, promptness, and attendance.
      • Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
      • Demonstrates ability to accurately complete work in a timely manner with minimal supervision.
      • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
      • Demonstrates dependability and able to follow-through on assignments.
      • Familiar with Canva, Adobe, Word, and PowerPoint
      • Ability to work with a diverse population.
      • Experience working with or awareness of college students who have experienced food insecurity and/ or financial hardships
        or emergencies.
      • Demonstrates ability to work evenings.
      • Cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher, maintained during employment; must be making progress towards degree.

      Required Qualifications:
      • Undergraduate students must be registered/enrolled in a minimum of six (6) Fall/Spring units.
      • Post-baccalaureate students in a graduate program must be registered in a minimum of four (4) Fall/Spring units.
    • Salary Range
    • $16.50 per hour.
