Tribal Relations Cultural Artifact Specialist (Administrator I) in Chico
The Tribal Relations Cultural Artifact Specialist is responsible for managing Native American affiliated collections, and NAGPRA compliance efforts at CSU, Chico, coordinating repatriation with the Human ID Lab and Tribes, managing and coordinating donation requests, Tribal requests, and communication, maintaining inventory and a process for access to collections for Tribes, when appropriate, working with campus and Tribal partners to providing access to collections for educational purposes, events and displays on and off campus. The CSU, Chico Native American Consultation and Repatriation Committee reports to the President. CSU, Chico holds human remains and cultural items in the Department of Anthropology Museum and the Archaeological Curation Facility. Most of these are from California. The curation facility also curates a number of collections owned by State agencies, such as CalTrans, and Federal agencies such as the U.S. Bureau of Land Management and U.S. Forest Service.
