Working independently under general supervision and with lead work direction, the Administrative Support Coordinator I provides ongoing office and instructional support coordination within the College of Arts & Letters. The incumbent provides various clerical and administrative coordination and support to Department Chairs, faculty, staff and students. Serving as a department resource and first-line point of contact for general inquiries, primary responsibilities include support and coordination for departmental operations, communications, student employees, events and travel. The incumbent serves as a cross-departmental resource to ensure continuity of administrative operations.
FLSA: Non-Exempt (Eligible for overtime compensation)
Anticipated Hiring Range: $4,047 per month (Step 1) - $4,211 per month (Step 3)
CSU Classification Salary Range: $4,047 per month (Step 1) - $5,896 per month (Step 20)
Salary step placement will be determined based on relevant qualifications and professional experience.

Entry to this classification requires a fully functional knowledge of and skill in standard office procedures and practices, as well as an ability to understand and operate in a variety of organizational structures. Incumbents are expected to have a thorough knowledge of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation and be able to clearly communicate orally and in writing. Some positions may require knowledge of business mathematics beyond basic arithmetic. The ability to use and quickly learn new office support technology systems and software packages is also a prerequisite.
These entry qualifications would normally be obtained through a high school program, technical/vocational program, or their equivalents combined with several years of related office work experience.

3. Thorough, detailed knowledge of applicable university infrastructure, policies, and procedures.

5. Ability to coordinate front-line office support, communications, records, calendars, supplies, facilities requests, and routine administrative workflow.
6. Ability to independently organize work, handle multiple priorities, meet deadlines, maintain accurate records, and follow up on pending items.
7. Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to prepare correspondence, forms, agendas, minutes, lists, spreadsheets, and reports.
8. Ability to maintain confidentiality and use judgment and discretion when handling sensitive information.
9. Working knowledge of budget policies and procedures.
10. Ability to perform standard business math, such as calculate ratios and percentages, track financial data, and make simple projections.
11. Proficiency with standard office and campus systems, including Microsoft Office 365, Outlook, Excel, Teams, CMS/PeopleSoft, CFS, P2P/CSUBUY, Concur, CHRS, ASTRA, CourseLeaf, OnBase or similar document-routing systems, and department websites.
12. Ability to apply independently a wide variety of policies and procedures where specific guidelines may not exist.
13. Ability to handle effectively a broader range of interpersonal contacts, including those at a higher level and those sensitive in nature.
Conditions of Employment
- Satisfactory completion of the background check process.
14. Experience providing front-line administrative support in an academic department, college, school, or comparable higher education setting.
15. Experience supporting department communications, event logistics, routine purchasing/travel documentation, student assistant scheduling, academic records, and faculty/staff/student service.
