The CSU Chancellor's Office, located on the waterfront adjacent to the Aquarium of the Pacific in downtown Long Beach, is the headquarters for the nation's largest and most diverse system of higher education. Salary

The anticipated salary hiring range is up to $150,000 per year, commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Position Information

The California State University, Office of the Chancellor, is seeking a CHRS Snowflake Integration Manager to provide strategic and operational leadership in the design, development, implementation, and ongoing support of cloud-based data pipelines and integrations between the Common Human Resources System (CHRS) and the CSU Snowflake data platform. This managerial role supervises direct reports and oversees technical teams and cross-functional collaborations to ensure the delivery of scalable, high-quality, and secure data integration solutions that align with CSU’s enterprise data strategy. The position champions best practices in data architecture, governance, and automation, while driving continuous improvement, standardization, and performance excellence across campuses and the Chancellor’s Office. A key responsibility of this position is to lead and manage the campus adoption of the Snowflake platform as the systemwide source of truth—overseeing migration initiatives from legacy or interim “schema” datasets, coordinating technical resources, and ensuring consistent, efficient, and reliable access to data across the CSU system.

This is a full-time temporary position with benefits.

This position is approved for telecommuting (two days telecommuting, three days in office (in-person)) with onsite work at the main headquarters located in Long Beach, California.

Responsibilities

Under the general direction of the Director, Data Engineering and Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning Architecture, the CHRS Snowflake Integration Manager will:

-Manage daily operations and monitoring of CHRS data ingestion into Snowflake.

-Design and maintain robust and scalable data pipelines using tools such as dbt, Airflow, and AWS Glue.

-Coordinate development, testing, and deployment processes to ensure reliable data flow.

-Act as subject matter expert for CHRS Snowflake integration architecture and related data models.

-Document integration designs, data mappings, and operational procedures.

-Manage root cause analysis and resolution of data integration issues.

- Manage quality checks and validation procedures to ensure data accuracy and integrity.

-Collaborate with Identity Management and Information Security teams to align with CSU data governance policies.

-Participate in cross-functional project teams, sprint planning, and retrospectives.

Qualifications

This position requires:

-Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field required; Master’s preferred.

-Minimum 5 years of experience in data engineering, integration, or data warehouse development.

-At least 2 years of experience working with Snowflake in a professional setting.

-Proficiency with SQL and Snowflake architecture, including performance tuning and optimization.

-Experience with AWS services, especially S3, Lambda, Glue, and IAM.

-Familiarity with data pipeline orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow, dbt).

-Understanding of data privacy and security in higher education contexts.

-Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.

-Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

-Familiarity with CHRS data models and HR processes within the CSU system.

-Previous management Experience overseeing represented staff.
