Major Duties

Under general supervision, the Coordinator of EOP and College Advising Services delivers high-impact academic advisement, supports EOP (Educational Opportunity Program) student transition and success, contributes to first-year advisement programming, and engages in workshops, events, and outreach that strengthen student persistence and connection to the College of Engineering and Computer Science and EOP communities

  • Provides comprehensive academic advisement for all students assigned to the Andrew J. Anagnost College of Engineering and Computer Sciences (ACECS) Student Services Center (SSC)/EOP.
  • Coordinates activities related to monitoring EOP student transition and academic progress, including, but not limited to, follow-up with students and responses to faculty alerts.
  • Assists the DCA and SSP IV with the coordination, planning, and implementation of first-year advisement for all incoming first-time freshmen and transfers.
  • Represents the SSC/EOP and ACECS at on and off-campus events, recruitment activities, and on university committees.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in a related field. Upper division or graduate course work in counseling techniques interviewing and conflict resolution where such are job related, is preferred.
  • Equivalent of three years of progressively responsible professional student services work experience.
  • A Master’s degree in Counseling, Clinical Psychology, Social Work, or a directly related field may be substituted for one year of experience.
  • Additional specialized and relevant experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.          

 

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Demonstrated ability to deliver comprehensive academic advisement to diverse student populations, including first-time freshmen, transfers, continuing students, and EOP participants. Skilled in maintaining accurate caseload records, documenting student interactions, and applying university policies to guide students effectively. Ability to identify student challenges, determine appropriate support services, and coordinate timely referrals to academic and university resources. Skilled in monitoring student transition and academic progress, including responding to faculty alerts and implementing follow-up strategies that promote retention and timely graduation.
  • Ability to review and analyze complex student cases, develop informed recommendations that support degree completion, and collaborate with colleagues—including SSP II and SSP IV advisors—on EOP events and shared initiatives. Strong interpersonal and team-based skills to provide individual and group advisement, deliver specialized support to EOP applicants and admits, and contribute effectively to a broad range of student services within the ACECS SSC/EOP. Proven capacity to exercise sound judgment, maintain professionalism, and communicate clearly in a dynamic, service-oriented environment.
  • Ability to monitor EOP student progress by tracking transitions, responding to faculty alerts, and conducting proactive outreach. Skilled in developing individualized student success plans for high-concern EOP students and communicating updates to leadership to ensure mandated services are met. Capacity to represent the college at EOP admissions, transitional programs, and events while maintaining strong cultural competence and commitment to equity-based student support practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to support first-year advisement planning, implementation, and operational execution for incoming freshmen and transfer students. Skilled in assisting with the oversight of advisement processes throughout the freshman cycle, including contributing to training and guidance efforts for advising staff. Ability to evaluate workflow, ensure accuracy and consistency in advisement delivery, and provide informed recommendations to improve first-year programming and student experience.

 

Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule

  • The university offers an excellent benefits package, including but not limited to: medical, dental, vision, retirement & savings, tuition waiver, and more.
  • Classification: 3084 / Student Services Professional III / 1
  • The anticipated HIRING RATE is $5540 per month. The salary range for this classification is: $5540 - $7893 per month.
  • HOURS: Full Time; 40 hours per week; Monday through Friday. May include evenings and weekends.  
  • This is a Regular position with a one-year probationary period. 
  • The position is currently hybrid (4 days in office, 1 day remote); however, this is subject to change based on student and/or operational needs.
