Position Description

Job Overview

The Disability Support Services (DSS) Counselor is responsible for providing disability related counseling, supplemental academic advising and case management services to enrolled students with documented disabilities. This position serves as a resource to the campus community in providing information on how to effectively work with adults with various disabilities in the postsecondary environment using various methods including but not limited to workshops, one on one meetings and guest lecturing. Additional responsibilities include: serve as the point of contact with IITS to ensure E-text material is provided to students with print impairments; and act as the designated second point of contact for Maxient referrals when the Director is otherwise unavailable. This position may have highly complex, sensitive assignments that require the application of a high degree of judgment and understanding of the various complex state and federal disability laws and regulations.

This is a full-time, exempt position, which will lead toward permanent status following the successful completion of a probationary period.

Pay, Benefits, and Work Schedule

Anticipated Hiring Salary Range: $5,540 - $6,250 per month

CSU Classification Salary Range: $5,540 - $7,893 per month

Salary is commensurate with the background and experience of the individual selected.

This position is eligible for a broad range of benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurances, retirement (CalPERS), tuition waiver, vacation and sick leave. In addition, 14 paid holidays are offered each year; 13 scheduled on specific days and a Personal Holiday that may be taken any time during the year.

This position is required to work in person on campus.
