- One temporary hourly-intermittent student assistant position available in the University Police department.
- Position is available on or after April 7, 2025 and ending on or before May 30, 2025. Possibility of reappointment based on budget, department needs, and job performance.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Assist with basic troubleshooting for hardware and software issues under supervision.
- Provide first-level support for daily applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat).
- Help deploy computer equipment, peripherals, and basic software installations.
- Assist in logging, tracking, and updating IT helpdesk tickets.
- Perform basic system updates and maintenance tasks, such as spyware removal and virus scans (under guidance).
- Support data entry tasks related to IT asset management or helpdesk records.
- Assist with documentation of IT support processes and common troubleshooting steps.
- Answer and direct incoming calls for the IT helpdesk, taking and delivering messages as needed.
- Assist staff with routine work orders and assigned tasks.
- Maintain organization of IT workspaces, ensuring equipment and tools are properly stored.
- Other duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with helpdesk ticketing systems.
- Some experience with basic computer maintenance or networking.
- Knowledge of common IT security practices.
- Basic knowledge of computer systems, software, and troubleshooting.
- Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical users.
- Strong customer service skills and ability to work collaboratively.
- Willingness to learn and follow IT procedures.
- Ability to work independently with guidance and take initiative.
- Experience with Windows/macOS operating systems (preferred but not required).
Required Qualifications:
- Undergraduate students must be registered/enrolled in a minimum of six (6) Fall/Spring units.
- Post-baccalaureate students in a graduate program must be registered in a minimum of four (4) Fall/Spring units.
