The Management Department prides itself on its commitment to research, teaching, and service excellence. Position:

The department of Management at California State University, Northridge (CSUN) is seeking a tenure-track faculty member in Management at the rank of Assistant Professor.

The successful candidate will teach courses on innovation management, technology management, and digital transformation, as well as within their disciplinary area in management and have research interests in the management of innovation in a digital age. This includes (but is not limited to) such topics as the future of work, innovation processes, technological change, technology strategy and the impact of emerging technologies on organizational work and structures. The candidate will likely explore how advancements such as artificial intelligence, automation, remote work, and the "gig economy" are reshaping organizations, industries, and societies, including the ethical implications of these transformations. The position is open to scholars with either a micro (organizational behavior, human resources) or macro (organization theory, strategy) orientation, or those who integrate these perspectives.

In addition to teaching, the position requires weekly office hours, attending faculty meetings, participation in assessment of student learning, and service to the department, college, and university. The successful candidate may be required to teach on weekdays, evenings, weekends, and/or online and will be held to the standards and requirements of the college and department in which he/she/they is/are housed for recommending tenure and promotion. Given CSUN’s commitment to excellence in teaching, research, and engagement in a diverse environment, the successful candidate will help the Department achieve equitable academic outcomes for all students through teaching, student mentorship, scholarship, and service.

Required Qualifications:   

  • Ph.D. in Management, Innovation Management, Technology Management, Strategic Management, Organizational Behavior, or a closely related field. The doctorate degree must be from program(s) accredited by AACSB International or ABET (or an equivalent accreditation). The terminal degree must be awarded by the date of appointment
  • Excellence in, or clear potential for, university-level in-person teaching and in creating a student-centered learning environment
  • Evidence of, or clear potential for, conducting and publishing original research on the management of innovation and technology (with a preferred focus on digital transformation and/or the future of work) in peer-reviewed journals.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Evidence of effective engagement OR potential to engage with a diverse student body
  • Experience using culturally responsive pedagogy that leads to equitable outcomes for all students
  • Experience creating a student-centered learning environment
  • Research/Lab experience that includes working with students from diverse backgrounds 
  • Experience adopting inclusive approaches to mentoring
  • Relevant professional or business experience in the field and/or relationships with the business community.
  • Evidence of, or clear potential for, contributing to supportive and collaborative work environments.
  • Potential to take on leadership roles in the Department, College, and University.
  • Evidence of, or clear potential to secure funded work through contracts, grants, and self-supporting programs.
