- Classification: Academic Year Faculty
- Type of Appointment: Lecturer, Temporary One-Year Appointment
- Appointment Date: January 19, 2027
- Priority Screening Date: November 20, 2026
California State University, Monterey Bay (CSUMB), invites applications for the position of Professor of Practice and founding Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Program Director in the Montage Health Helen Baszucki School of Nursing. This is an opportunity for an experienced nurse educator and academic administrator to provide dedicated leadership for CSUMB’s pre-licensure BSN program, anticipated to launch in 2028, and its existing and/RN-to-BSN program.
The BSN Program Director will coordinate program development and implementation, support curriculum development, lead the pre-licensure program through the California Board of Registered Nursing (BRN) regulatory processes, and collaborate with nursing faculty, the School’s Chair, and clinical and community partners to ensure program quality and readiness. The Director will also work with the Chair to coordinate course scheduling for the ADN-to-BSN and pre-licensure BSN programs and will assist with the development of the new program’s policies, systems, partnerships, and student-success infrastructure.
This position offers the unique opportunity to expand nursing education across the Monterey Bay and Central Coast regions, strengthen community-college pathways, and prepare a diverse nursing workforce in partnership with local health systems and community leaders.
About The Montage Health Helen Baszucki School of Nursing
The Montage Health Helen Baszucki School of Nursing is a newly established school within CSUMB’s College of Health Sciences and Human Services. The School builds on its successful RN-to-BSN and ADN-to-BSN pathways to prepare nurses as leaders committed to advancing health equity, evidence-based practice, and community health. Its educational philosophy emphasizes health equity, interprofessional collaboration, inclusiveness, and quality care for diverse populations.
The School is expanding its portfolio with a pre-licensure BSN program and a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) program. A transformative gift commitment from Montage Health supports the School's development and the new programs, including faculty and staff hiring, simulation and skills-lab development, approval and accreditation, student success, and clinical and community partnerships. The Program Director will work with the School Chair, College Dean, faculty, staff, and regional partners to help steward this investment and build strong, sustainable programs.
The Role of the BSN Program Director
The BSN Program Director will be a Professor of Practice, a non-tenure-track faculty appointment for experienced nursing educators and practitioners. The role blends teaching, program leadership, student support, curriculum and program development, and external engagement. The Director will serve as a bridge among nursing faculty, academic leadership, clinical partners, community colleges, students, and the professional nursing community.
The successful candidate will bring practical knowledge of nursing education pathways and the administrative experience needed to help move a pre-licensure BSN program from development through BRN approval and implementation. Previous experience directing an ADN or BSN program is a benefit given the importance of CSUMB’s community-college partnerships and the need to coordinate pathways across programs.
