Position Description

Position Summary

Passionate about helping students access the resources they need to thrive? SDSU Imperial Valley is seeking a Student Disability Services Coordinator to serve as a welcoming and reliable point of contact for students with disabilities and help ensure they have equitable access to their educational experience.

Based at SDSU Imperial Valley (Calexico, CA) and working in close partnership with Student Disability Services at the San Diego campus, this position coordinates approved academic and testing accommodations, supports students throughout the accommodation process, maintains confidential records, and works with faculty, staff, and service providers to help services run smoothly. The role also provides general academic support and connects students with resources that promote success, retention, and engagement.

Note: This position will work onsite at SDSU Imperial Valley (Calexico, CA), which is two hours east of SDSU Main Campus.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for SDSU Imperial Valley students seeking disability-related services and resources.
  • Coordinate approved academic and testing accommodations in partnership with students, faculty, and SDSU Student Disability Services.
  • Manage accommodation schedules, student documentation, testing logistics, and confidential program records with care and accuracy.
  • Connect students with academic and campus resources that support their progress, retention, career development, and involvement
  • Build positive working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and campus partners while providing responsive, student-centered service.

Position Information

  • Full-time, benefits eligible, temporary position with an anticipated end date of June 30, 2027, with the possibility of reappointment.
  • Position is designated non-exempt under FLSA and is eligible for overtime compensation.
  • Standard SDSU work hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs.
  • The individual hired into this role will work on campus at our SDSU-Imperial Valley location.

Department Summary

SDSU Imperial Valley is a campus of San Diego State University serving students in Imperial County through undergraduate, graduate, and credential programs. The Imperial Valley Student Affairs unit coordinates student services in partnership with the Division of Student Affairs and Campus Diversity at the San Diego campus to support student access, success, retention, and well-being.

Student Disability Services provides accommodations and support to ensure students with disabilities have equitable access to university programs, services, and educational opportunities. Services include coordinating academic and testing accommodations, assistive technology, accessible course materials, and referrals to campus and community resources.

Education and Experience

Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in one of the behavioral sciences, public or business administration, or a job‑related field. Additional specialized experience during which the applicant has acquired and successfully applied the knowledge and abilities shown above may be substituted for the required education on a year‑for‑year basis.

Possession of these knowledge and abilities is typically demonstrated through the equivalent of one year of experience in professional Student Services work at the entry trainee level. Equivalent amounts of graduate level job‑related education may be substituted for the required experience.

Key Qualifications

  • Customer service experience working directly with students, staff, faculty, and community partners from diverse backgrounds.  
  • Knowledge of disability access requirements, including the ADA, Sections 504 and 508 of the Rehabilitation Act, and FERPA.  
  • Experience handling confidential and sensitive information with discretion and accuracy.  
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is highly desirable. 
  • Willingness to learn and use assistive technology and accommodation-related systems necessary to coordinate approved services.

Preferred:

  • Experience providing student-services or administrative program support in a postsecondary educational environment.
  • Experience supporting disability services, accommodated testing, or a related student-support program.
  • Familiarity with assistive technology or accommodation-related software and equipment.
  • Experience working with students from diverse backgrounds, including underrepresented, low-income, and first-generation college students.

Compensation:
 Salary is based on your experience, education, and qualifications, within the department’s budget and equity guidelines.

  • CSU Classification Salary Range: $4,482–$6,342/month; hiring salary not expected to exceed $4,482/month.
