    • Temporary hourly-intermittent Student Assistant position in Strategic Communications and Marketing.

    • Start Date
    • Position available on or after September 14, 2026 and ending on or before May 31, 2027. Possibility of reappointment based on budget, department needs and job performance.

    • Job Description/Duties
    • The Office of Strategic Communications and Marketing seeks a motivated, detail-oriented student to work with the Web Services Team supporting the University website and digital communications. This position provides hands-on experience in website content management, web accessibility, search engine optimization (SEO) and digital marketing while supporting the day-to-day maintenance and improvement of the University website.

      Duties include but are not limited to:
      • Edit, update and maintain pages on the www.csustan.edu Drupal website.
      • Fulfill website work order requests from University departments and programs, including content edits, page updates, images, links and other routine website changes.
      • Post, resize, crop and optimize images and other digital assets for web use.
      • Review and remediate website content and PDFs and other digital documents for accessibility.
      • Review and optimize website content using SEO best practices, including headings, links, metadata and content structure.
      • Assist with website content audits by identifying outdated or duplicate content, broken links and opportunities to improve organization, usability and search visibility.
      • Build and maintain forms using Microsoft Forms.
      • Communicate with University departments and programs regarding website requests, content updates and edits.
      • Support Web editors with routine Drupal questions and troubleshooting. Training will be provided.
      • Support digital marketing initiatives through website updates, landing pages, SEO improvements and other web-based campaign needs.
      • Complete basic graphic design and image-editing projects for web and digital use, including creating banner images and cropping photos.
      • Attend team meetings.
      • Other duties as assigned.

       

    • Qualifications













    • Preferred Qualifications:
      • Strong attention to detail and an excellent eye for editing, formatting and organizing web content.
      • Strong communication, troubleshooting and research skills.
      • Ability to work independently on routine tasks after initial training and ask for guidance when needed.
      • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks with appropriate follow-through.
      • Ability to solve problems creatively and effectively.
      • Knowledge or interest in web accessibility and digital accessibility best practices.
      • Knowledge or interest in search engine optimization (SEO) and writing or optimizing content for the web.
      • Basic knowledge of HTML.
      • Experience with a content management system, preferably Drupal, is a plus.
      • Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud, particularly Photoshop and Acrobat, is a plus.
      • Experience with graphic design, image editing or preparing digital assets for the web is a plus.
      • Ability to communicate professionally and provide responsive service to University departments and programs.
      • Coursework or interest in web development, communications, marketing, graphic design, computer science or a related field is preferred.

      Required Qualifications:
      • Familiarity with Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite and other computer programs.
      • Effective communication skills.
      • Dependable and able to follow through on assignments.
      • Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks with appropriate follow-through.
      • Undergraduate students must be registered/enrolled in a minimum of six (6) Fall/Spring units.
      • Post-baccalaureate students in a graduate program must be registered in a minimum of four (4) Fall/Spring units.
    • Salary Range


    • $16.90 per hour.
