Major Duties
Under general supervision, the Grants and Sponsorship Officer is responsible for developing, securing, and stewarding philanthropic support for The Soraya through foundation and institutional grants, corporate sponsorships, and strategic partnerships. The incumbent manages the full lifecycle of funding opportunities—from prospect research and cultivation through proposal development, award administration, stewardship, and reporting.
- Conducts all aspects of grant-related fundraising for The Soraya, including but not limited to: identifying prospective funders, cultivating relationships, preparing competitive Letters of Inquiry (LOIs), grant proposals, budgets, and supporting documentation, and coordinating timely submission of applications.
- Working in coordination with The Soraya, CSUN, and University Relations and Advancement teams, researches and identifies new foundation and institutional funding opportunities aligned with The Soraya's mission and strategic priorities.
- Develops and implements strategies to secure corporate sponsorships and philanthropic partnerships that support The Soraya's performances, education programs, community initiatives, and institutional priorities.
- Coordinates fulfillment of sponsor recognition and contractual commitments by coordinating recognition, hospitality, marketing benefits, ticketing, VIP experiences, advertising, and other sponsor deliverables.
- Partners with colleagues across campus to identify, build, and leverage shared funding opportunities that maximize grant and sponsorship philanthropic support.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
- Equivalent to a bachelor's degree in a related field and two years of relevant experience. Additional experience which demonstrates acquired and successfully applied knowledge and abilities shown above may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
- An advanced degree in a related field may be substituted for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Thorough knowledge of grant-related fundraising practices, including prospect research, funder cultivation, proposal development, budget preparation, application coordination, post-award reporting, grant recordkeeping, and compliance with sponsor requirements.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external partners, maintain accurate fundraising and stewardship records, identify aligned institutional funding opportunities, and build productive relationships with funders, prospective funders, and stakeholders.
- Knowledge of corporate sponsorship and philanthropic partnership practices, including strategy development, sponsorship proposal preparation, benefit package design, business alignment, employee engagement, audience development, and community impact opportunities.
- Ability to coordinate sponsor recognition, contractual commitments, hospitality, marketing benefits, ticketing, VIP experiences, advertising, and other sponsor deliverables in collaboration with cross-campus partners and The Soraya's departments.
Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule

- Classification: 0512 / Advancement Professional II / 1
- The anticipated HIRING RANGE is $5274 – $5823 per month, dependent on qualifications and experience. The salary range for this classification is: $5274 - $7684 per month.
- HOURS: Full Time; 40 hours per week; Monday through Friday. May include evenings and weekends.
- This is a Regular position with a one-year probationary period.
- The position is currently hybrid (4 days in office, 1 days remote); however, this is subject to change based on student and/or operational needs.
