The CSU Chancellor's Office, located on the waterfront adjacent to the Aquarium of the Pacific in downtown Long Beach, is the headquarters for the nation's largest and most diverse system of higher education. Salary
The anticipated salary hiring range is up to $125,016 per year, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Work Arrangements

Position Information
The California State University, Office of the Chancellor, is seeking a Senior Manager, Fiscal Services to oversee daily financial operations and reporting for the Chancellor’s Office. Fiscal services is a customer service unit of the California State University, Office of the Chancellor (CO), responsible for recording and reporting the financial transactions in alignment with the broader mission of the University. The Senior Manager, Fiscal Services leads daily financial operations and reporting for the Chancellor’s Office, ensuring accuracy, strong internal controls, and exceptional customer service across general accounting, billing, cashiering, and accounts payable functions. This position directly supervises two managers and indirectly supervises 7 accounting personnel.
Responsibilities
Under the general direction of the Senior Director, Systemwide Financial Standards & Reporting, the Senior Manager, Fiscal Services will perform duties as outlined below:
Manage and lead the Fiscal Services and Accounts Payable (AP) Departments
Responsible and accountable for successful team results, which includes:
-Guiding overall department priorities.
-Supporting the teams by ensuring work is completed in a timely and accurate manner, with exceptional customer service.
-Together with assistant manager and AP manager, develops and implements policies, procedures and practices that adhere to and align with CSU policies and accounting standards that establish or maintain internal controls to safeguard assets or address all other areas of the control environment, compliance, and data integrity for fiscal services.
-Review of satisfaction surveys to implement areas for improvement.
-Oversees the overall month and year end accounting and accounts payable close processes which requires collaborating and cooperating with other finance and budget administration teams.
-Oversee internal audits for CO and related entities under area(s) of responsibility.
-Work with representatives from public/private entities and handle potentially sensitive situations.
-Keep assistant controller informed of department progress and important decisions.
Provide guidance, support, and training to customers.
-Deliver training to CO financial and end user community on accounting and accounts payable policies, procedures, systems including changes or updates.
-Encourage customers to frequent the Financial Services training library and other helpful resources.
-Foster a collaborative working environment with all customers and colleagues.
Special projects and other duties
-Develop metrics and productivity indicators for fiscal services and accounts payable activities to continuously improve cycle time and accuracy.
-Champion the adoption of digital solutions by designing and implementing streamlined processes, advanced software, and data-driven reporting tools.
-Support Assistant Controller as needed.
Qualifications
This position requires:
-Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business administration, finance, economics, or related field.
-5 years of increasingly responsible accounting experience in a highly centralized public university environment or other closely related fund accounting environment.
-Minimum of 5 years’ experience in lead or supervisory role.
-3 years’ experience with PeopleSoft financial software.
-Extensive knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), internal control methods, and working knowledge of governmental accounting methods.
-Strong leadership skills and the ability to supervise varied levels of professional staff including the ability to motivate and enable team to provide exceptional customer service.
-Superb verbal, written and interpersonal skills.
-Demonstrated experience in developing and completing projects and priorities.
Preferred Qualifications
-Graduate degree preferred.
-California State University experience.
