Job/Department Summary:

The Basic Needs Coordinator (SSP III) provides independent advisement and support to students experiencing food insecurity while oversee the Hungry Wildcat Food Pantry, which serves 2,000 weekly visits. This position exercises professional judgment in overseeing pantry operations, supervising 20 student staff, and coordinating donations, sourcing, and distribution. Additionally, the Coordinator develops and implements campus-wide outreach, events, and workshops, including financial literacy, cooking, and wellness programs, while fostering cross-campus and community partnerships. The role requires advanced problem-solving and interpersonal skills to help students navigate complex challenges, recommend resources and strategies, and design creative, integrative solutions that improve student well-being and success.

Required Education and Experience:

Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in one of the behavioral sciences, public or business administration, or a job-related field.
AND
Three years of full-time professional experience in one of the student services program areas or in a related field; experience should give evidence of competence and indicate the potential for further growth.

*A Master’s degree in a job-related field may be substituted for one year of the professional experience.

**Additional specialized experience which demonstrates the applicant has successfully applied the knowledge and abilities of a student services professional may also be substituted for required education on a year-for year basis.

Preferences:

Preference may be given to applicants with the following as they may be considered specialized skills: 

  • Master’s degree in a related field (counseling, social work, psychology, applied behavioral science).
  • Strong background in outreach, event planning, and donor engagement.
  • Knowledge of CSU systems, student support services, and food safety standards.
  • Experience supervising diverse teams of student staff and fostering professional growth.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills.
  • Experience applying basic counseling or advising techniques in sensitive or high-impact settings. Demonstrated ability to develop integrative solutions in collaboration with cross-divisional partners.

Time Base: Full-time

Pay Plan: 11/12 (June off) or 12/12

Work Schedule: Mon-Fri 8:00am-5:00pm, Summer: Mon-Thurs 7:00am-5:30pm 

CSU Classification Salary Range: 11/12 $60,936 - $86,820 per year, 12/12 $66,480 - $94,716 per year
