    • Position Summary
    • Multiple temporary hourly-intermittent student assistant positions available in Campus Recreation.

    • Start Date
    • Positions available on or after July 7, 2025 and ending on or before August 29, 2025. Possibility of reappointment based on budget, department needs, and job performance.

    • Job Description/Duties
    • Duties include but are not limited to:
      • Officiate intramural sports contests.
      • Assist with registration for each sport prior to each sport season.
      • Educate participants and enforce intramural sports rules and regulations.
      • Maintain appropriate level of control, fairness, and consistency in all game situations.
      • Assist with pre and post-game logistics and administrative functions.
      • Assist with preparation, inspection, and closing of intramural sports activity sites.
      • Attend regularly scheduled officials training clinics.
      • Communicate maintenance, custodial, or security issues to appropriate SRC personnel. Educate participants and student staff; adhere to, and enforce, all policies and procedures.
      • Resolve participant conflicts and disputes with tact and diplomacy.
      • Maintain familiarity with evacuation plans and assist during major emergencies. 
      • Participate in program marketing by working info tables and campus events on behalf of Intramurals and Campus Recreation Department. 
      • Provide coverage for SRC front desk as needed. Perform other duties as assigned. 
      • Comply with industry standards for safety and participation. 
      • Attendance at all staff meetings, in-service trainings and special events as scheduled. 
      • Provide general level of knowledge of Campus Recreation programs and activities to customers.
      • Always represent the SRC and CSUSTAN in a professional manner and act as an SRC ambassador with an extensive knowledge of intramural sports playing rules, policies, and procedures. 
      • Possess general knowledge of all SRC facilities, programs and services. 
      • Serve as a role model to other student staff and participants. 
      • Provide positive public relations and policy education to participants. 
      • Attend and contribute to all mandatory staff meetings, workshops, and retreats. 
      • Provide a friendly, inclusive, service-oriented environment for all staff and participants. 
      • Demonstrate awareness of, and appreciation for, individual uniqueness and diversity. 
      • Maintain a positive relationship with staff and co-workers. 
      • Demonstrate commitment to student development and leadership. 
      • Maintain high standards and achieve high expectations. 
      • Maintain prompt hours and follow absence procedures.
      • Other duties as assigned.

       

    • Qualifications
    • Preferred Qualifications:
      • Demonstrates proficiency in dealing with difficult situations, concerns or complaints.
      • Demonstrates previous experience in and knowledge of recreational sports related to intramural programming.
      • Demonstrate previous experience with scorekeeping and/or officiating in an intramural or recreational sport program.
      • Demonstrates ability to work in a group setting.
      • Demonstrates effective organizational and time management skills.
      • Demonstrates effective written and oral communication skills.
      • Demonstrates ability to work evening and weekends frequently.

      Required Qualifications:
      • Undergraduate students must be registered/enrolled in a minimum of six (6) Fall/Spring units.
      • Post-baccalaureate students in a graduate program must be registered in a minimum of four (4) Fall/Spring units.
    • Salary Range
    • $16.50 - $18.00 per hour.
