Working under the guidance of the Associate Director of the Pierce Greek Life Center, you'll design and implement impactful programs that promote academic excellence, leadership, changemaking, belonging, and wellbeing—core values that define the student experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Program Development: Design and implement innovative programs focusing on academic excellence, leadership development, and student wellbeing.
- Organizational Advising: Provide strategic guidance to fraternity and sorority organizations.
- Collaborative Leadership: Partner with the Associate Director to enhance the Greek life experience.
- Student Success Support: Support broader student success initiatives across the Dean of Students office.

Department Summary
The Office of the Dean of Students is part of the Campus Life subdivision within the Division of Student Affairs and Campus Diversity, and includes the following centers: Campus Assistance, Response, Evaluation, and Support (CARES), Center for Commuter Life, Center for Student Organizations & Activities, Esports Engagement Center, Glazer Center for Leadership & Service, New Student & Parent Programs, Pierce Greek Life Center, and SDSU Connects. The Office of the Dean of Students promotes student growth and leadership development through teaching, advising and intentional personal interactions. The Office of the Dean of Students staff encourages and facilitates opportunities for students to connect and engage in the campus community while striving to provide a safe and inclusive campus environment. In addition, the office supports the Dean of Students in serving as a liaison to the College of Education for the purposes of coordinating Graduate Student Assistants and Graduate Interns from the Masters’ Degree in Postsecondary Educational Leadership, Specialization in Student Affairs.
Through participation in the activities within the Office of the Dean of Students, students are connected to the University through an array of structured and informal learning opportunities. Students are encouraged, supported and empowered to pursue academic success, personal growth, an understanding of diverse human experiences, and compassionate activism on and off campus.

Education and Experience
Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in a related field, including or supplemented by upper division or graduate coursework in counseling techniques, interviewing, and conflict resolution where such are job-related. Possession of these knowledge and abilities is typically demonstrated through the equivalent of three years of progressively responsible professional student services work experience. One year in the program area to which assigned may be preferred but is not required.
A master’s degree in Counseling, Clinical Psychology, Social Work, or a directly related field may be substituted for one year of experience. A doctorate degree and the appropriate internship or clinical training in counseling or guidance may be substituted for the three years of experience for positions with a major responsibility for professional career or personal counseling.

Key Qualifications
- Understanding of Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act with regards to the maintenance of academic and judicial records of individual students.
- Understanding of reporting responsibilities outlined as a “Responsible Employee” and “Campus Security Authority” under Title IX and the Jeanne Clery Act.
- Ability to learn and acquire knowledge of Title V, CSU policies and procedures, and University rules and regulations and their application to student organizations, student activities and express and student governance structures.
- Basic workshop and training facilitation skills.
- Ability to effectively use Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Google Applications to create and analyze documents, data, reports, resource materials, and presentations.
- Ability to effectively handle and complete several ongoing projects and activities in a work environment characterized by frequent interruptions.
- Basic experience in program development of student organizations and activities, fraternity and sorority life, leadership programs, cross-cultural identity centers, and student academic success centers.
- At least one (1) year of professional experience working with fraternal organizations and diverse student populations in a higher education setting is preferred.

Compensation and Benefits
Starting salary upon appointment is not expected to exceed $5,540 per month.
Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department’s fiscal resources.
