Associate Academic Advisor in East Bay
The Associate Academic Advisor plays a vital role in furthering Cal State East Bay's strategic goals, vision, mission, and values as described in Cal State East Bay’s Future Directions Strategic Plan as well as with CSU-wide goals and initiatives. These outcomes are accomplished by delivering holistic, consistent, sophisticated and comprehensive academic advising services to students with majors and minors within the College of Education and Allied Studies. This position provides students with accurate, timely advising and evaluation of coursework as applicable to the completion of their major, general education, university graduation requirements and information on the credential and graduate programs. This position will also assist students in pursuing their educational and career goals through various steps such as career assessments, graduate school research, connecting with faculty advisors, and career services, etc. The advisor autonomously addresses and resolves student issues with evidence-based strategies and maintains student records to ensure they meet Title 5, CSU, and University degree requirements. They assist with academic petitions, guide degree progression, and work collaboratively with academic departments, the registrar, and other campus offices to tackle a variety of student challenges. Additionally, this role involves active participation in the development and execution of policies and strategic planning in the advising sphere, all aimed at promoting the success, persistence, and timely graduation of students within their specific college or department. This position supports the whole student by providing information and guidance with clarity and kindness. Advising at the Concord campus or representation at events held at other institutions may at times be required.
