Position Summary

The Director of Operations provides direction and oversight of various complex administrative operations in service of the goals of the CSU Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander Student Achievement Program (CSU ASAP) Central Office and the University at large, under the direction of the Executive Director (ED). Central Office wide administrative operations include, but are not limited to, allocating programmatic funding, support program development and training, and build a network across the CSU system in support of AANHPI student success. In addition, the Director of Operations is responsible for all administrative functions performed in the Central Office and provides strategic guidance to the administrative staff, project managers and analyst reporting to the ED. The Director of Operations provides oversight and fiscal responsibility for the effective implementation of processes to allocate state funding to eligible CSU campuses, ensuring timely allocation of funds and mechanisms to produce and release annual reports on funding activities and outcomes. The responsibilities assigned to this position require considerable initiative, independent judgment, diplomacy, discretion, confidentiality, professionalism, and the ability to interpret and communicate complex policies and procedures. The Director of Operations will make recommendations to the ED regarding specific Central Office business administration issues, retreat, professional development, and event planning, identify solutions and actions as needed. The Director of Operations will support the ED in preparing for and implementing all aspects of the budget development and human resource and management processes. They will also support the ED by providing executive assistance. The incumbent will also analyze and assess the Central Office administrative functions and responsibilities and provide recommendations to ensure quality of inclusive customer service, responsiveness to internal and external constituents, and collaboration with the CSU Chancellor’s Office, the Vice-President for Inclusive Excellence, and the CSU ASAP Advisory Committee.

FLSA: Exempt (Not eligible for overtime compensation)

Anticipated Hiring Range: $7,500 per month - $9,166 per month

CSU Classification Salary Range: $3,938 per month - $11,703 per month

Welcome to the Division of Inclusive Excellence! Inclusive Excellence leads Sacramento State’s efforts to create a welcoming and inclusive campus free from oppression where all students, faculty, staff, and community members feel a sense of belonging. The California State University Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander Student Achievement Program (CSU ASAP) was authorized by the California Education Code Section 89297.1 in 2022. The legislation provides for $8 million in ongoing funding for culturally responsive services to enhance student educational experiences and promote higher education success for low-income, underserved, and first-generation AANHPI students and other underrepresented students. A similar program was also established at the California Community Colleges.

Required Qualifications 

Experience

  1. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in human resources, public or business administration, sociology or a related field. (Possession of additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the required degree on a year for year basis.)
  2. Three+ years of full-time professional experience providing executive-level administrative consulting and support to a senior level executive or administrator, including strategic planning and project management.
  3. Three+ years of experience supervising and providing lead work direction to staff (e.g. setting work priorities, providing direction, and delegating tasks).
  4. Experience interpreting complex policies and procedures and communicating them effectively to others.
  5. Professional experience monitoring, tracking, and reconciling budget expenditures and making budget recommendations and human resource management.
  6. Experience providing executive assistance support.

  10. High level of comfort with technology and proficiency using standard office software packages (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite), including Word, Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint, Zoom, webinar, etc.
  11. Commitment to maintaining a welcoming and inclusive work environment with diverse colleagues and constituents including faculty, students, staff, and members of the community.

  2. 5+ years professional experience serving in an advisor or consultant role to executive leader.
