The Department of American Indian Studies at San Diego State University, situated on the traditional homelands of the Kumeyaay Nation, invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of American Indian Studies to teach a variety of interdisciplinary courses in American Indian Studies. Applicants must demonstrate expertise in teaching and research from a decolonial perspective, proficiency in Ethnic Studies methodologies, and the ability to teach classes that count towards the new CSU Ethnic Studies Graduation Requirement. Applicants must be able to build and maintain partnerships with Indigenous communities and demonstrate interest in collaborative research. Research connected to California Indian communities is preferred, but not required. The Department has a particular need and interest in research related to visual sovereignty, art and activism, Native literature and literary studies as well as language revitalization. Applicants should demonstrate an active research agenda, a publication record, and leadership potential and capabilities. Applicants with a terminal degree will be considered (e.g. Ph.D., Ed.D., or MFA).
Administrative Support Coordinator II Sacramento
The Administrative Support Coordinator (ASC) II is responsible for the majority of day-to-day operations of the department office that includes providing lead work direction and training of an ASC I and up to two student assistants. The position provides oversight to ensure clerical and administrative support is provided for approximately 23 faculty and 35 part­ time faculty and student assistants in the Department. The ASC II position is responsible for developing, maintaining, and analyzing various Departmental fiscal records, preparing and inputting the annual schedule of classes into CMS HR and Astra, and organizing both the Part-Time and Full-Time Faculty Hiring Committees in their recruiting and hiring efforts. The ASC II develops and implements procedures and timelines for the department and recommends them to the Department Chair.

Reporting to the Vice President for Student Affairs, the Associate Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students (AVPDOS) is a member of the Division of Student Affairs Leadership Team and a larger leadership team that includes student affairs directors and the university’s administrative council. The AVPDOS serves as second-in-charge of the division and has direct administrative responsibility for the following areas: Associated Students Incorporated, Basic Needs & Student Support, Children’s Center, Student Conduct and Ethical Development, Santos Manuel Student Union, Student Recreation and Wellness Center, Department of Housing and Residential Education, Office of Student Leadership & Engagement, and the CARE team. In coordination with the Associate Dean of Students, the AVPDOS oversees the establishment and training of hearing panels, assures the adjudication of student code of conduct violations, and coordinates the Division of Student Affairs response to student emergencies. In addition, the AVPDOS advises the Vice President on matters pertaining to student engagement and success; develops, implements, and assesses programs, services, and initiatives that enhance the overall student experience on campus; and serves as an advisor to Associated Students Incorporated.
