The School of Engineering at San Francisco State University invites applicants for two tenure-track Assistant Professor positions in Computer Engineering, beginning August 2020.
The School seeks individuals with a background in Computer Engineering or a closely related field. We are especially interested in qualified candidates who can contribute through their research, teaching, and/or service, to the diversity and excellence of the academic community.
The School of Engineering (engineering.sfsu.edu) offers a Bachelor of Science degree in four disciplines: Civil, Computer, Electrical, and Mechanical Engineering. A Master of Science in Engineering degree is also offered, with three concentration areas: Embedded Electrical and Computer Systems, Structural/Earthquake Engineering, and Energy Systems.
The School of Engineering currently has 21 tenured/tenure-track faculty and more than 30 part-time lecturers. Current enrollment in the School of Engineering is around 1600 undergraduate students and 110 graduate students.

·Ph.D. or equivalent degree in Computer Engineering or a closely related field. Terminal degree must be completed by the first day of employment.
·Record of working and communicating effectively with colleagues and students
•Background in Computer Engineering or a closely related field
•Post-doctoral experience and/or industrial experience
•Active record of scholarship related to their specialty area and evidence of external support or the potential for external funding of these activities
•A strong background in teaching a large and diverse student body
•Research specialty in the areas that include but are not limited to: internet of things (IoT), computer architecture, mobile/edge computing, embedded artificial intelligence, real-time operating systems, and cyber-physical systems
•Have experience teaching and/or mentoring women and students from underrepresented groups and a commitment to inclusion, diversity, and educational equity in the discipline
The position requires graduate and undergraduate teaching in Computer Engineering, mentoring and advising graduate and undergraduate students, curriculum and laboratory development, establishing an active ongoing research program in the area of expertise, and ongoing committee and service assignments within the School of Engineering, the College of Science & Engineering, and the University.

Rank and salary:
Assistant Professor. Salary is commensurate with qualifications, experience, accomplishment, and research leadership (potential or actual). The CSU provides generous health, retirement and other benefits.
