San Francisco State University, Department of Accounting offers an exciting opportunity for a tenure-track Assistant/ Associate Professor position in Accounting beginning August 2020.

We seek colleagues whose teaching and research interests include taxation and business law. We are especially interested in qualified candidates who can contribute to diversity and equity through their research, teaching, and/or service towards the excellence of the academic community.

The SF State Department of Accounting offers a Master of Science in Accountancy degree and a BSBA degree with a concentration in Accounting. Accounting is one of nine departments in the College of Business and has approximately 16 full-time faculty, 30 MSA students, and 800 undergraduate accounting majors. Our students represent more than 100 nationalities and reflect the rich cultural and economic diversity of the Bay Area. The position requires graduate and undergraduate teaching, mentoring and advising graduate and undergraduate students, developing an active ongoing scholarship program in one’s area of specialty, and ongoing committee and service assignments. Detailed position description is available at


•Ph.D. degree in Accounting with specializations in Taxation/Business Law or a J.D. and L.L.M. with a specialty in Tax. All candidates’ degrees must be from an AACSB-accredited program or a nationally recognized law school. Terminal degree must be completed by the first day of employment.

•Record of working and communicating effectively with colleagues and students.

•Certifications such as CPA, CMA, CIA, or CISA, are desirable.
•Record of teaching contributions in the areas of taxation and business law.
•Active record of scholarship related to specialty area.
•Demonstrated ability to incorporate inclusion, diversity, and educational equity in teaching, and/or scholarship/creative works.
•Experience in teaching and working closely with students from historically under-represented communities.
•Record of contributing to collegial, supportive and collaborative work environments.
