The successful candidate will have a joint appointment in both departments. We look favorably on candidates with expertise in trans of color and queer of color studies; cultural studies with emphases in literature, media, cinema, and/or sound; and border politics associated with sexuality studies, reproductive justice, and gender-based violences and femicide. The Department of American Indian Studies at San Diego State University, situated on the traditional homelands of the Kumeyaay Nation, invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of American Indian Studies to teach a variety of interdisciplinary courses in American Indian Studies. Reporting to the Vice President for Student Affairs, the Associate Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students (AVPDOS) is a member of the Division of Student Affairs Leadership Team and a larger leadership team that includes student affairs directors and the university’s administrative council. The AVPDOS serves as second-in-charge of the division and has direct administrative responsibility for the following areas: Associated Students Incorporated, Basic Needs & Student Support, Children’s Center, Student Conduct and Ethical Development, Santos Manuel Student Union, Student Recreation and Wellness Center, Department of Housing and Residential Education, Office of Student Leadership & Engagement, and the CARE team.
