Under the general supervision of the CAMP and HEP Program Director, the Instructor will provide high school equivalency class instruction to assigned student cohorts throughout the HEP program’s school year. The High School Equivalency Program (HEP) helps migratory and seasonal farmworkers (or children of such workers) who are 16 years of age or older and not currently enrolled in school to obtain the equivalent of a high school diploma and, subsequently, to gain employment or begin postsecondary education or training.

Under the direction of ICDFR Directors, this position allows individuals the rare opportunity to expand their knowledge from the classroom and connect with the population they will serve in the San Bernardino County. The K-12 Homeless Youth Students Deserve Success program connects CSUSB students to unhoused youth residing in San Bernardino. The Tutor Coordinator role will design and assign educational activities, monitor student progress on homework completion, and perform tutor responsibilities such as cleaning and organizing the classroom supplies. This position will engage and build relationships with students, parents and program personnel, help students develop teamwork and leadership skills, and provide academic guidance. The Tutor Coordinator must be able to diffuse verbal and emotional conflicts, provide emotional support, and enforce rules to provide an engaging learning environment.
