We are currently seeking experienced candidates for the position of Assistant Director, Organizational Excellence. The CSU Chancellor's Office, located on the waterfront adjacent to the Aquarium of the Pacific in downtown Long Beach, is the headquarters for the nation's largest and most diverse system of higher education. Salary

The anticipated salary hiring range is up to $115,008 per year, commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Position Information

The California State University, Office of the Chancellor, is seeking an Assistant Director, Organizational Excellence to be responsible for supporting key initiatives and performance improvement efforts within the Business and Finance division, the Chancellor's Office, and systemwide.

This position is approved for telecommuting (two days telecommuting, three days in office (in-person)) with onsite work at the main headquarters located in Long Beach, California.

Responsibilities

Under the general direction of the Senior Director, Organizational Excellence, the Assistant Director, Organizational Excellence will:

-Support Chancellor's Office and systemwide key process improvement initiatives that align with the strategic priorities of the CSU. Support key initiatives projects by coordinating and documenting action items, scheduling and organizing meetings with the appropriate participants, creating agendas, and leading meetings or assigning facilitators as needed. Maintain project infrastructure, including shared workspaces in OneDrive and Smartsheet. Tracking time, assigning and following up with task owners, ensuring adherence to applicable agreements, as necessary. Helping to ‘connect-the-dots’ and ensuring communications across groups and provide on-site support for Los Angeles-area campuses when required; which may be multiple days/week.

-Provide project and change management support for key initiatives including the Multi-University Collaboration Initiative, coordinating with key individuals to create and distribute communications content through various mediums and ensure related website updates.

-Support key initiatives utilizing lean process improvement techniques.

-Manage the execution and project/change management and support the daily management, development, communication, implementation, and integration of change management strategies and project plans for the Business & Finance performance improvement framework. Manage awareness efforts through communication, training, briefings, and related activities. Assist with development of strategy maps, objectives, KPIs, targets, and initiatives.  

-Establish relationships with Executives, Assistant Vice Chancellors, Directors, & department Managers, and support the efforts of these individuals and provide assistance in understanding a balanced view of performance metrics.  

-Support presentations to the Board of Trustees on key initiatives, including preparation of necessary information and presentations.

-Travel to campuses and other events and locations as needed. 

Qualifications

This position requires:

-Bachelor's degree in business or related area of focus, or an equivalent combination of education and experience in a related area is required. 

-A minimum of three years’ experience managing communications & change management in a Higher Education environment.

-Excellent project and change management skills including planning, organizing, tracking, and communication skills are required.

-Excellent organizational, multi-tasking, and time-management skills is required.

-Experience managing/maintaining strong trust relationships with project teams and all stakeholders is required.

-Experience leading and supporting process improvement efforts is required.

-Experience leading/managing work efforts of disparate teams is preferred.

-Excellent communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills is required.

-Can maintain a high level of professionalism and comfort in an ever-changing environment is required.

-Demonstrated teamwork and collaboration skills in a professional setting is required.

-Experience acting as a liaison between project team and customers is required.

-Strong analytical skills is required.

-Can travel as necessary to various CSU campuses is required.

Conflict of Interest

The duties of this position will include participation in decisions that may have a material financial benefit to the incumbent. Therefore, the selected candidate will be required to file Conflict of Interest Form 700: Statement of Economic Interest when they first occupy the position, and on an annual basis, complete ethics training within 6 months of appointment, and attend this training every other year thereafter.
