Job Summary
Reporting to and under the general direction of the Director of Admissions, with additional lead work direction from the Director of Student Recruitment and Orientation, the New Student Enrollment Coordinator performs complex Student Services professional work by providing academic advising and program support for new student programs and recruitment events within the Division of Strategic Enrollment Management. The incumbent is responsible for providing considerable administrative planning to facilitate program needs and to ensure the orderly and accurate operation of the various functions of the unit’s programs. The New Student Enrollment Coordinator participates in strategic planning and implementation of recruitment programs, events and activities, to increase enrollment yield. The New Student Enrollment Coordinator is responsible for generating leads, which involves recruitment travel and managing lead generation, and follow-up with leads to support new applicants through the enrollment process. The incumbent supports the development and hosting of in-person and virtual academic advising sessions and recruitment events. The New Student Enrollment Coordinator is also responsible for using various software products to track, maintain records, and provide report updates on prospective students.
Key Qualifications
This position requires the equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in a related field, including or supplemented by upper division or graduate course work in counseling techniques, interviewing, and conflict resolution where such are job-related. Possession of these knowledge and abilities is typically demonstrated through the equivalent of three years of progressively responsible professional student services work experience. A master’s degree in a job-related field may be substituted for one year of experience. Knowledge in admissions requirements is preferred. Strong public speaking skills and the ability to convey clear and intentional messaging to various audiences in an engaging manner is highly preferred. High level of proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) required. Knowledge of Google Suite, WebAdmit, OnBase, Slate and PeopleSoft preferred. Bilingual preferred.
Salary and Benefits
Starting salary placement depends on qualifications and experience and will not exceed $5,540 a month. This is a full time, exempt position, which will lead toward permanent status following the successful completion of a probationary period.
This position is eligible for a broad range of benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurances, retirement (CalPERS), tuition waiver, vacation and sick leave. In addition, 15 paid holidays are offered each year. Sonoma State University is also a Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program (PSLF) Employer.
