The College of Business Administration at California State University San Marcos invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in the Operations and Supply Chain Management Department at the rank of Assistant Professor of Business Analytics, starting Fall 2025. Minimum Qualifications 

  • The minimum education requirement for this position is a Ph.D. in Business Analytics, Data Science, Operations Research, or a closely related discipline. (ABD applicants accepted; PhD Confirmation required by hired date)
  • Successful candidates will have demonstrated teaching excellence, a publication record appropriate to their experience level, and the potential to establish a research program that produces original, peer-reviewed work.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate with departmental colleagues and contribute to a diverse campus community are essential.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Preference will be given to candidates who can teach effectively at both undergraduate and graduate levels and possess research experience in Business Analytics.
  • Ideal applicants will have expertise in areas such as Business Analytics, Big Data Analytics, Data and Text Mining, Optimization Analytics for Supply Chains, and Machine Learning.
  • Proficiency in applied learning and familiarity with current technologies relevant to these fields is required.
  • Additionally, candidates who demonstrate intercultural competence and the ability to engage effectively with diverse groups in teaching, research, and service will be strongly favored. 

Responsibilities 

The successful candidate will be well-qualified to teach both undergraduate and graduate level courses in Business Analytics and Operations Management areas, contribute to the development and enhancement of the Business Analytics Option of the Business Administration and the Master of Science in Business Analytics (MSBA) curriculums, and develop new courses as needed, such as Foundations of Data Analytics in Business, Automated Spreadsheet Analytics, Artificial Intelligence in Operations Management, End-to-end Business Analytics, and Analytical Strategies for Supply Chain Management. The candidate should also be able to teach programming skills and libraries relevant to analytics, including R, Python, and other related languages. In research, the candidate is expected to sustain quality scholarship by publishing in peer-reviewed journals. In service, the candidate will actively engage in identifying and pursuing opportunities to support the department, college, university, and professional community.

Anticipated Hiring Salary Range: $11,667 - $12,594 per month

CSU Classification Salary Range: $6,221- $13,224 per month
