Join our team at the California State University, Office of the Chancellor, and make a difference in providing access to higher education. We are currently seeking experienced candidates for the position of Financial Reporting Analyst. The CSU Chancellor's Office, located on the waterfront adjacent to the Aquarium of the Pacific in downtown Long Beach, is the headquarters for the nation's largest and most diverse system of higher education. The CSU Chancellor's Office offers a premium benefit package that includes outstanding vacation, health, and dental plans; a fee waiver education program; membership in the California Public Employees Retirement System (PERS); and 14 paid holidays a year.
The salary range for this classification is $5,908 to $11,481 per month. The salary hiring range is up to $6,250 per month.
The California State University, Office of the Chancellor, is seeking a Financial Reporting Analyst to assist in the system wide financial analysis of the various data sources for 23 CSU campuses, Chancellor's Office and 90 component units. The Financial Reporting Analyst will provide key strategic analysis on special projects and initiatives, serving as an advisor on strategic objectives by using analysis and interpretation of complex data. Provide recommendations and observations on key trends and data integrity across all the CSU financial entities.

Under the general direction of the Director, Financial Reporting and Review, the Financial Reporting Analyst's functions will include, but are not limited to:
SYSTEMWIDE FINANCIAL ANALYSIS
-Assist with analysis of the overall financial information.
-Develop an understanding of the financial data elements.
-Develop a methodology for aggregating data and analyzing, by campus and aggregate, information from the Common Financial System, the Financial Data Warehouse and the Financial Information Reporting Management System.
-Ensure the proper visibility of system wide trends and make recommendations based on the data.
-Develop conclusions and recommend solutions or revised policy requirements.
-Assist with special requests from internal and external customers.
-Provide analysis supporting various labor contract negotiations.
-Assist with analysis supporting external auditor inquiries.
-Create reports and presentations on analysis results for a wide variety of management and executive staff.
-Lead coordinator for special projects to ensure deadlines and reporting requirements are met.
This position requires:
-A Bachelor's degree or greater from a four-year institution of higher education is required.
-Minimum 4 years' relevant experience in financial analysis, financial statement preparation or consolidation.
-Demonstrated expertise in overall financial principles.
-Previous experience in a role requiring the ability to synthesize volumes of data to key messages.
-Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
-Strong analytical skills.
-Ability to create presentations and/or reports to convey the results of analysis, to be presented to executive and management teams.
-Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
-Good interpersonal skills.
-Detail oriented and good organizational skills.
-Substantial and broad knowledge with business process policies and procedures (higher education industry experience preferred). This is necessary to interpret and apply the effects of policies and rules to financial analyses.
-Use of appreciable ingenuity and innovation to conceive new approaches and solutions to address complex issues.
-Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
-Knowledge of Wdesk and Tableau.
-CSU or other higher education experience.
-Knowledge of fund accounting.
