Position Information
This is a full-time (1.0 time-base), benefits eligible, permanent (probationary) position. This position is designated non-exempt under FLSA and is eligible for overtime compensation. Standard SDSU work hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs.

The Resource Sharing Searching and Retrieval Assistant finds books and media items (DVDs, CDs, etc.) for SDSU researchers and for borrowing libraries with whom the SDSU Library has consortia lending agreements. This staff person downloads search slips from Alma (the CSU’s Unified Library Management System) for holds placed by SDSU researchers, claims returned from library patrons, and for CSU+, Circuit, and Interlibrary Loan. These search slips are organized into call number order and searched by this staff member and student assistants. The materials are distributed to the correct units to either be sent to the borrowing libraries or given to Circulation/Course Reserves as appropriate. In order to fulfill our contractual obligations and meet lending deadlines established by the various consortia to which we belong, a great deal of organizational control must be demonstrated. The incumbent must be watchful for items not found, determining when further searching is necessary and sending lists of missing items to Technical Services as appropriate.

This person also processes CSU+ materials for shipment and receives CSU+ returned items, checking them in using the Alma software and processes outgoing Circuit requests to San Diego County libraries who have requested materials on behalf of their patrons, and assists with scanning whenever necessary. Additionally, this person will provide backup support for the mailroom activities.
