SALARY AND BENEFITS:
Salary Range: $2,736.00/month to $4,530.00/month. PLEASE NOTE: The starting salary will be between $2,736.00/month to $3,633.00/month.

ABOUT THE POSITION:
Shift: Tuesday - Saturday; 6:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. (2 positions)
Shift: Sunday - Thursday; 6:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. (1 position)
This position performs general grounds maintenance, landscape installation, athletic field maintenance, general gardening and landscaping work. Duties include planting, cultivating, fertilizing, spraying and watering ornamental plants, shrubs, hedges, trees, lawns and flowers; raking leaves; hoeing weeds; cleaning trash from assigned areas including parking lots; preparing and treating soils for planting; maintaining hoses, sprinklers, tools, supplies and equipment in proper condition and repair; trimming trees, hedges, and shrubs and erect tree supports; may operate and perform minor maintenance on power equipment such as lawn mowers, edgers, and weed eaters; may assist in the preparing and lining of athletic fields for events; may occasionally assist a qualified specialist in sprinkler repair; spraying, tree trimming, or nursery functions; may drive pick-ups and other automotive equipment in performance of assigned duties. Also constructs flower beds, maintains drainage systems, removes brush and trees, collects trash, and helps to install concrete and asphalt. Performs other duties as requires.
One year of experience in the care and maintenance of landscaped areas or in general grounds maintenance work, or in related manual labor.
Ability to read and write at a level appropriate for the duties of the position and follow verbal and written instructions to ensure safety. Thorough knowledge of general gardening and grounds maintenance methods. General knowledge of proper methods of planting, care of gardening materials, tools, and equipment. Ability to recognize the more common species of ornamental shrubs, trees, and flowers grown in California; ability to perform strenuous physical work a described in this announcement; must be able to work in varying climatic conditions, to include inclement weather; ability to stand and work for long periods of time, reach above and below waist level, climb, stoop, kneel, crawl, and travers rough, uneven terrain; safely lift, carry push, and pull objects weighing up to 50 pounds; utilize mechanical aptitude and motor coordination; learn to skillful position; and follow simple oral and written instructions. Possession of a valid California Driver's License. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with diverse student, faculty, staff and community is essential.
PREFERRED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
