Salary and Benefits
The salary range for this position is $3,897 to $6,453 a month. Starting salary placement depends on qualifications, experience and salary budget, and will not exceed $4,676 a month.

This position is eligible for a broad range of benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurances, retirement (CalPERS), tuition waiver, vacation and sick leave. In addition, 14 paid holidays are offered each year; 13 scheduled on specific days and a Personal Holiday that may be taken any time during the year.

Conditions of Employment
This is a full time, exempt position, which will lead toward permanent status following the successful completion of a probationary period.

Responsibilities
Reporting to the Associate Athletics Director, Senior Women Administrator, with additional lead work direction provided from other members of the Athletics management team, the Compliance Coordinator, ensures institutional control in complying with National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA), and university regulations policies and procedures. The incumbent performs a full range of duties tied to research, analysis, development, evaluation, making recommendations, and providing operational analysis in support of the Intercollegiate Athletics department as it relates to compliance.

Under general direction, the Compliance Coordinator serves as the program administrator and is responsible for the coordination and maintenance of the University's comprehensive compliance program. The coordinator is responsible for developing and maintaining effective operating procedures and administrative systems to ensure institutional compliance with NCAA Conference, and University regulations. Major duties of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:

- Assisting in developing and maintaining effective operating procedures and administrative systems related to assigned duties and responsibilities to ensure compliance and institutional control per institutional requirements, conference requirements, and within NCAA Articles 12, 13, 14, 15. 16, 17, and 19;
- Updating Institutional Request List (IRL), Compliance Assistant (CAi), ACS athletics. institutional student groups, and queries;
- Designing, developing, and maintaining compliance related forms, links, and information on institutional webpages;
- Developing and maintaining compliance related policies and procedures;
- Overseeing the reporting/monitoring of all Countable Athletically Related Activities (CARA);
- Coordinating and approving the administrative side of the athlete recruiting process including the official/unofficial visits, tryouts, contacts, evaluations, and telephone calls;
- Overseeing Playing and Practice Season (PPS) declarations;
- Facilitating "Compliance Intake Meetings";
- Overseeing compliance software for the department;
- Participating in confirming eligibility and certification in conjunction with the Faculty Athletics Rep (FAR) and Academic Advisor;
- Assisting in the ongoing education of institutional staff relative to conference and NCAA legislation, interpretations, educational materials, and best practices;
- Assisting in providing data for and submission of institutional reports;
- Overseeing requested/requests for transfer-tracers and permission to contact;
- Preparing and/or assisting on waiver requests, interpretation requests, and violation reports;
- Maintaining prospective, current, and former student-athlete files, both hardcopy and electronic; Attending NCAA and conference meetings related to assigned duties and responsibilities;
- Assisting in various programming designed for student-athletes;
- Maintaining active communication with the Student-Athlete Academic Advisor;
- Overseeing all administration of the department’s “Roster Management” program including active rosters, triggered rosters, triggered participants, maximum ranges for rosters and range for participants;
- Providing advising to prospective student-athletes with academic and amateur certification requirements of the NCAA Eligibility Center;
- Maintaining complete and accurate University, NCAA, Western Water Polo Association (WWPA) and Pacific West Conference participation paperwork as well as the prospective, current and former student-athlete records.
- Overseeing the processing of waivers, institutional violations and legislative interpretations.
- Overseeing the monitoring of Countable Athletically Related Activity (CARA) and recruiting activities.
- Leading and coordinating required reports by the NCAA, CCAA, WWPA and Pacific West Conference.
- Coordinating the National Letter of Intent (NLI) program and new aid for incoming students;
- Serving as a member of the Compliance Committee and other division, campus, and system wide committees;
- Facilitating the “Compliance Intake Meetings” and the annual “New Student-Athlete Orientation” presentations.
- Overseeing institutional education on NCAA, CCAA, WWPA and Pacific West Conference legislative changes.
- In a rotation with other department personnel, serve as an on-site coordinator to provide program administration for home contests

Performs other secondary duties as assigned.

Duties take place mostly in an office setting location in the South Fieldhouse at Sonoma State University. As an exempt employee the incumbent will have some flexibility in your schedule however must be available during the regular campus hours Monday through Friday to meet the operational needs of the campus and department. Evening and weekend hours may be required and will be specified only by the supervisor to meet operational needs. The incumbent must maintain regular and acceptable attendance at such levels as is determined by the Appropriate Administrator. The position may require occasional travel, by automobile or airplane, and overnight stay to travel off campus to trainings and conferences.

Qualifications
A bachelor's degree and/or equivalent training and administrative work experience involving study, analysis, and/or evaluation leading to the development or improvement of administrative policies, procedures, practices, or programs. A master's degree or law degree preferred.
The incumbent shall have extensive experience with knowledge of, and commitment to the NCAA rules compliance. The candidate must be familiar with policy issues concerning the administration of intercollegiate athletics and higher education and have the ability to implement and manage administrative systems to ensure compliance with applicable regulations.

Additionally, the following knowledge, skills and abilities are required for this position:
- Thorough knowledge of office systems, including advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Familiarity with PeopleSoft, student groups, and data required for mandated reporting.
- Ability to independently interpret and apply policies and procedures and explain them to others.
- Ability to apply independent judgment, discretion, and initiative when addressing problems and develop practical solutions.
- Must have excellent written and oral communication skills, including a basic foundation of English grammar, spelling and punctuation, and the ability to communicate effectively, proofread and edit written materials.
- Possess strong organizational skills, and ability to work effectively with highly detailed tasks.
- Must have the ability to direct and perform detailed work with accuracy under time pressures, and should exhibit strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment, discretion and initiative in performing work
- Ability to maintain accurate records with a high level of attention to detail
- Ability to independently handle large, multiple work unit priorities and projects, and meet critical and cyclical deadlines in a timely manner
- Must have the ability to effectively communicate with all levels within the university and establish and maintain productive and effective, inclusive working relationships amongst diverse populations including staff, faculty, administration, students, and other internal and external constituents.
- Must be able to accept constructive feedback and work cooperatively in group situations.
