The English & Foreign Languages Department in the College of Letters, Arts, and Social Sciences at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona (Cal Poly Pomona) invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin fall 2018.

The Position: We seek to hire a faculty member working on transnational, Anglophone literature of the long eighteenth century (1660-1800). The successful candidate will teach courses in the English B.A. and M.A. programs, and contribute to the educational mission of the CSU system.

Minimum Qualifications:
• Ph.D. in English (or a closely related field such as Comparative Literature) from an accredited university by no later than August 1, 2018.
• Ability to teach Anglophone literature—including surveys of British literature.
• Ability to teach courses in literary theory, in particular gender studies.
• Evidence of effective college or university teaching experience to a diverse population
• Evidence of current and potential ability to build a strong record of scholarly publication.
• Demonstrated ability to contribute excellence of a diverse academic community through research, teaching and/or service, and of commitment to teaching and working in a multicultural environment.

Preferred/ Desired Qualifications:
• Evidence of one or two subspecialties in any of the following areas such as: 1) transnational or transatlantic studies, 2) Milton and his contemporaries, or 3) the rise of the novel.
• Evidence of any additional experience with internship programs, English Education at the secondary level, or comparative literature is desirable.
