Description: Full-time Director of the recently established CSUB Energy Research Center (csub.edu/energycenter). The CSUB Energy Research Center was established in 2013 with the goals of supporting and promoting interdisciplinary faculty energy-related research. The new director will have the opportunity to work with a diverse pool of active faculty from six different departments and the administration to grow and shape the Center and its activities. The successful applicant will procure resources from governmental, industry, and community sources for faculty and student research in energy resources, technology, and management. Outreach and team leadership in developing collaborations in proposal writing will be an essential part of the job as will travel to meet with funding sources and collaborative personnel from other centers. Other duties will include those consistent with center directorships including managing staff and chairing the advisory board. Applicants will be appointed with retreat rights to the most appropriately affiliated academic program pending approval of the department.

Qualifications: A PhD in a field associated with energy research such as but not limited to engineering, geoscience, or physics, and consistent with a department at CSUB. A record of funded research grants and scholarship is essential, along with the ability to lead and manage a team of collobarators. Experience with local energy-related industries, and outreach to potential partners (i.e., petroleum, wind, solar, electrical, geothermal, biofuels, agriculture, water resources) preferred. Expereince with managing staff and assistants is desired. The successful candidate will also be expected to teach up to two classes per year, which may be upper division or graduate level in area of specialty.

Compensation: Salary and rank will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Setting: CSU Bakersfield serves a region known as the Energy Capital of California. It is the 3rd largest petroleum producer of any county in the U.S. and is home to tens of thousands of MW of solar, wind, geothermal, and biofuel energy production.
